I’d say both too. I play because I really enjoy the challenge and excitement of the game, but the money side definitely adds extra motivation. It feels great when skill and patience actually pay off. Literally.

I mostly play for fun, although winning some money is fun too. Anyway, I'm just a recreational player. I don't think there are a lot of professional poker players on this forum. I play a few freerolls, when I accumulate a few dollars I buy into a tournament. End up losing it. And start all over again because I enjoy playing poker.

i take it as a hobby for now, but still try to learn all i can for everydays life. Playing poker builds my mental toughness and resilience. Iam maintaining a long-term perspective, focusing on controllable actions and practicing mindfulness. These skills are developed by handling the game's inherent variance and by viewing setbacks as learning opportunities, rather than failures. This helps me a lot to handle different areas in my life.

I love playing poker, and I believe I wouldn’t play it anymore if it were forbidden to play for money.
Interestingly, I also love playing chess — I play every day — but I’ve never played chess for money; I play it just for fun.
I play poker because it provides me with an income. Before, I used to work on the beach in Copacabana selling grilled cheese skewers, but I stopped because I earn more playing poker with much less effort. Poker has changed my life for the better — not just financially, but mainly in terms of work quality.
Now, I work sitting down, sometimes in front of the air conditioner. I play for a few hours, and that’s it — I can make a modest but sufficient income. When I worked on the beach, I had to face temperatures of up to 40°C, while people were having fun and I was working.
With poker, I can choose the days I want to play — and, above all, I truly enjoy it.

The only game I like to play online is poker, and I definitely play for pleasure, for fun. It reduces my stress and definitely makes me happier. If I were to play for money when I lost money, it would make me very sad and angry.
