Pathway to becoming a pro?

How to become a professional poker player? Tips and steps to follow?

Read books, study at least half of the time you have for poker and go for it.
bankroll management and not being fancy are two main lessons I've learnt, but I am not willing to be pro for a while, just regularly cash out.

I think it is really important to ask yourself why you want to be a pro. And then make sure that your "dream" matches the reality. Most times people don't really that most professional poker plays don't make a lot of money, and a daily grind of playing poker all the time can make you lose your love for the game. You also have to be very honest with yourself. To be a pro, you have to be really good at playing. Most of us are not.

You have to be able to play at a consistently high level, so you should be playing mid-stakes games, so you know you are at least playing against good players...winning freerolls does not equate to playing higher stakes against well seasoned players... I can hit a backhand and forehand...doesn't make me ready to play Djokavic.
