When did you realize you were actually getting better at poker?

I’ve been thinking lately — there’s always that one moment when you realize you’ve actually leveled up in poker.
For me, it wasn’t when I won a big pot, but when I folded a strong hand and felt good about it. Like… I finally understood the long game.

What about you guys? When did you feel that you really started improving as a player?

Good morning,
You realize you are getting better at poker when you can consistently beat less skilled players, stop making decisions out of boredom, have clear reasons for your bet sizing, focus on the process rather than short-term results, and your overall bankroll steadily increases over time, rather than focusing on isolated winning or losing sessions.

It finally clicked for me when I stopped getting mad at bad beats and just focused on making the right decision.

I didn't realize I was good at poker. I liked poker and that's why I kept playing.

20 years ago, after win small cash in some bar tournament in Thailand, playing against drunk Thai guys + I was drinking Chang too... 🤷‍♀️😁😂

Yeah, that’s such a good feeling! I think I started leveling up when I stopped taking losses personally and focused on making the right decisions instead of chasing results

When I realized there were fewer and fewer times I thought I could have played that hand better in hindsight. It still happens , but way less often. Now I haven't played in while I am bound to have a cold spell getting back to it this winter

I realized that I was getting better when I started to know exactly what cards my opponents had simply by analyzing their game.
