I believe Cash Game tables are now Death by Rake.

Thoughts?

hard to beat the players and yes the rake also

cash games are still beatable. Just work on your game, improve every day, watch videos, analyze the hands, work on strategy and you will see that rake is an excuse. Of course it influences overall winrate but still skill > rake

I'm afraid that this is not far from the truth, now even following the strategy and keeping discipline you will play at about 0 or a very small plus(

Yeah the rake has gone bad on all sites, take pokerstars.. those chests (our rake) is so bad thats why they never changed it back to their old ways, more money for them less money for us, it's with every poker room they start nice and then later on they do something to the rake

I'm not sure how many players they've re-introduced some rakeback rewards to (via Monthly Poker Challenge)... I believe it's just micro/low stakes players. The past couple months on Stars I've been getting ~40% rakeback (40% on first $200 in rake each month, then on top of this a tiny bit from cash game Leaderboards & also 'chests'). So far in Feb. I'm getting close to 50% rakeback & in January I got much more than that.

It definitely would be great to see them re-vamp their Loyalty Rewards program, including something like the former SuperNova deal. It'd bring a ton of the higher stakes players back to the site.

RAKE AND NO RAKE..

Casino, online, there's always the rake, mo matter what, the house must make money. It's good to have a live home cash game to go to, also. Where it's pretty basic, cut-throat poker with friends, no rake, but all the players kick in some money for food and beverages.

I'm up $187 on 888 alone playing mostly 5nl snap since late December. My win rate is small it is true, but adding on the additional money from targeting the hand of the day promotion and converting my club points to $10 cash every time I reach 1000 I'd argue that you can definitely be a winner if you put appropriate effort into your learning and strategy. Would have to say I am far from the perfect player also! Avoiding tilt is crucial, more so than worrying about rake imo.

Simply check out all hands that come to showdown. You will find a lot of hands that proof that despite rake there is still free lunch sometimes and therefore room for a positive winrate in cash games.

Cash games upto 50nl are definitely beatable and their are still people beating it at rates of 10BB/100 or more
