So today is a pretty significant day for me.
Over the years I have ran up quite large sums of debt. Credit cards here, loans there. You know how it is you get married, have kids (not necessarily in that order) and outgoings just keep escalating. Well over a period of 20 years, I managed to run up my debt to a high of ~£40k (hit this milestone about 3 years ago). This peak didnt even include my mortgage ffs!
Over those years I had countless consolidation loans, only to build it back up rinse and repeat. Living each month with your wages being paid in the bank, then literally the next day you had no money left which was very draining to say the least and dare I say it, I think I was literally days away from declaring myself bankrupt.
Anyway, I found poker and I built up my roll slowly to a point were I was actually drawing a regular income of over $1k/month. This helped massively and over a the last 3 years I have reduced my debt to a more manageable level ~£18k. OFC nothing lasts forever, and the poker money has dried up considerably and now Im struggling to make ends meet at the end of every month.
That was until today!
I have now re-mortgaged my house and paid all my remaining debt off. I have an affordable mortgage and now have a considerable amount of money left over every month. This feels like a fresh start, and my advice to you younger guys...... don;t fall into the trap of credit cards and loans as it really ****s with your life. Its so easy to get one loan after another and before you know it your miserable as sin.
