Because it's a challenge...physically but maybe even more so mentally.

I think I'll probably just do the half this summer and then try for the full another time if it goes ok. I mean I'm in pretty good shape and run frequently already (4-6 miles at a time usually) but was just looking for some tips on what kind on training works best to get best possible time. I'm hoping sub 2 hr time which equates to slightly over 9 minute miles which I think is easily attainable.

March chat thread probably not best place to poast to get good advice about marathon as it is infested with lazy spammers.....:p :p ;)

Lol I dunno about that, we like to talk about anything BUT poker so it's a pretty legit question :p

Probably true.

I've been reading about thru-hiking the AT for the past week now. Something I'll never do, but it's getting to be spring time and that makes me want to go outside.

Yeah shooting for a 9min mile time for a half marathon is not going to be hard to hit if your running that much all ready.

I'd probs just keep up what your doing and chuck in a longer run once a week with a break/light swim the next day. You sound like a fit enough guy so dont sweat about a half marathon as it sounds like you'll have no probs with that. But for a proper marathon guide go on runners world forums or something and you should find one there.

I'm going to try a full marathon next year, really wanna do something for BLESMA (British Limbless Ex-Service Mens Association) as theyre a really good cause, you doing it for charity or just as a personal challenge?

Oh one more thing at JOEBOB....

There is some really HOTTT girls that are runners so thats another bonus for running marathons...

For instance yesterday at gym...

I'm stretching before getting ready to run around the track and this hot girl sits down by me and I start chatting her up cuz thats what I do. We start talking about running and I tell her I'm planning on doing a marathon this summer and she says how she is too and how much she loves running. We then decide to run together (She is a crazy good runner, I was bagged after trying to keep up with her) and then after she asks me for my number lol. I didn't even have to work for it, she picked me up lol.

It's for the special olympics which I think is a good cause...Ya I no doubt think I won't have a problem with the half and am more using it as a stepping stone to hopefully do the full next year. I used to do some triathalons and thinking about the marathon has put IRON MAN into my head lol! Now that would be a challenge..

got a good night's sleep, ate a healthy breakfast, drank 2 cups of excellent dark coffee made w/ french press, recovered hearing + body feels rested and less damaged, laundry done, fridge full of groceries, withdrawal just hit bank acct, rocking brand new super comfy long sleeve, off to the library, then to class, then to get a late lunch, then to rock a poker session and then cook a delicious dinner. going to be doing this all week, not going to bars/buy any beer, etc., so its going to be a week of health + productivity

hopefully this parlays all the way to exams so i can finish this semester on a super positive note

not completely blowing off drinking for the next 3 weeks, but going to tone it down as much as possible

serious business: Fx - you should read 'Easy Game' by Baluga Whale. Really excellent and quick read pertaining primarily to NLHE. Among other things he discusses suitedness and how he thinks it applies to hand value in NL.
