Nah, I wouldnt have thought so, you don't have to know its gold/how much its worth, thats they're job, i think if you tried to send REALLY good fakes and were obv attempting to fraud them (even though this would never work due to their experienced geologists) they might have a case but otherwise I would say they can't do shit.
I dunno if this is a fake, its framed in a "Look what we made C4G do after sending them a load of painted pebbles" way, I know a lot of my old mates in the army would probs do something similar for a laugh and frame a response like this.
But if it were a good fake, you could still pull off the excuse of you did not know, you are not a professional.
