"I usually study alone, but sometimes talking hands with others helps a lot. What's your favorite way to study?"

For me it is a combination. I need to review hands on my own, and then discussing with someone whose game I respect (and posting hand histories on this forum!) can be very helpful to understand how I could improve.

It is best if you study with the coach and not in a group because then he can only focus on your problems.
But sometimes group study can also be useful, for example when analyzing a video.

Solo Study
• Pros: Full focus, flexible schedule, independent strategy building.
• Cons: No feedback, harder to stay motivated, limited perspective.
Group Study
• Pros: Shared insights, accountability, practice with others.
• Cons: Possible distractions, groupthink, scheduling issues.

Takeaway: Solo study gives independence, group study adds collaboration. A mix of both often works best.

I tend to solo study, and every now and then try to find some answers with a community.

Mostly solo for me. I like diving into solvers, watching training videos, and reviewing my own hands without distractions. That said, talking through spots with friends can be super valuable — sometimes they see leaks I’d never notice on my own. I think a mix of both is ideal, but if I had to pick, solo study keeps me more focused.
