Tell me about your worst experience with JJ. Is it true that this pair is very difficult to win with? Why do you think players don't like the JJ pair?

Do you just go all-in on the blind like a maniac? It all depends on how you play this pair, it depends on the flop, the turn, etc. Every hand has its own story.

JJ is a strong hand, but you need to play it according to position, stack sizes, and table dynamics.
It is clearly profitable in the long run.
The problem isn’t the hand itself, but playing it as if it were AA.

In fact, I think it's a common misconception that JJ always ends up losing, but if you look at your record, it's probably given you good results. I recently saw Adrián Mateos getting a lot out of a JJ, if I remember correctly. But hey, I'm not going to lie, I also think they're unlucky; it's hard to play comfortably, haha.

I don't believe it is unlucky. It's just the case that players get attached to JJ being a premium hand pre-flop... but it might be significantly valued less post-flop based on the situation. Similarly, even preflop, JJ could be up against QQ+ or AK etc. and players with JJ are reluctant to let it go when they are dominated, or flipping at best.

JJ is a great poker hand, but it must be played well, even AA has the best way to be played or you may not get the best value from the hand.

JJ is a great hand, but as others have said, you need to aviod overplaying it. With deep stacks its a hand, that regularly want to just call preflop, which also strenghten your calling range. And postflop JJ need to play for some pot control or fold to significant pressure on boards with overcards.
If you hold :js4::jc4: on a board like :qs4::10d4::3s4:, its fine to check back and get yourself one step closer to showdown instead of betting and forcing your opponent to have a strong hand to continue. Many people are to obsessed with "protection", when they hold a marginal made hand like second pair.

It's my favorite hand - so, it's easy to play with them, in my case. ;)

First off, pocket Jacks are obviously a super strong hand, but they get tricky when overcards like Q, K, or A hit the board, making you second guess if your opponent has one of them. That said, if you play it right, you'll win the majority of the time. My worst experience with JJ is probably shoving all in preflop against absolute trash like 4-8 offsuit, only for the guy to flop two pair and bust me out of the tournament. Total joke, but hey, that's poker.

I would say that it is because sometimes they overestimate the strength of the hand, JJ is good, but normally the one who will pay against large bets, which are usually made pre-flop, are hands like AQ AK QQ KK AA, or simply low hands that complete sequences too, I would say that it also influences that it is already “traumatic” for JJ players, we think we are going to lose, and that marks more mentally every time we really lose and we don't remember when we won.

Jacks (JJ) is probably the most hated hand in poker, a “black hole” for many players' bankrolls

I don't think JJ is hard to win with but it's probably the hand I have the most trouble playing simply because most times I get JJ there always seems to be at least 1-2 over cards on the flop or an ace. Facing a raise before me I'd rather have suited connectors if I'm honest. Suited connectors are a lot easier to play after the flop. I also find I have a hard time flopping trips with JJ.

Cheers!!!

It's usually a losing hand, especially when more than 1 player goes all in

I greatly prefer JJ to a hand like AQ...any premium made pair is better than Broadway draws.

It's not an unlucky hand, just dangerous, like all the other combinations. The flop can be decisive here too, because it can easily become vulnerable.
You shouldn't cling to any hand without reason.

I personally love Jack's but I understand what the OP means. I feel like I hit more sets with certain pairs and some are luckier than others so yeah I get that.

I honestly think $J-J$ gets a bad reputation because people just don't know how to let it go. It’s not 'unlucky'—it’s just a hand that’s incredibly hard to play after the flop. It’s the fourth-best starting hand in the game, but it feels like every time you see a Flop, there’s an Overcard looking right back at you
