I've had this question for some time, I'm still a beginner but I'm very proficient in the game, out of position it's more about check-call and check-raise because I often come out at a disadvantage on these boards. Do you think it's worth betting on wet failures? Thanks

Two pairs or more, or very thin if you have a range advantage over the opponent in hand.

You should not bet a wet board out of position, just because you have the chance to C-bet. But you can still bet, if you have a strong made hand or a decent draw. On a board like :qc4::jc4::8h4: you can bet :qs4::jd4: or :ac4::5c4:, but you should check a hand like :ad4::5d4: with intention to check-fold. And if you have :as4::ah4: or :ah4::qs4:, I would also check those hand with intention to check-call and try to limit the size of the pot while also allowing the opponent to bluff or value own himself.

Don’t make automatic c-bets when OOP(The opponent usually has a range advantage, and there are many bad turn and river cards.)
Bet when you have a set on a connected board or a flush draw + overcards.
Small bets tend to get punished on these boards.
Check with a wide range → bet only strong hands or very strong semi-bluffs.
