Today, I really need your help coz I'm fed up. The problem is I love poker, I enjoy so much when I play. I do have some skills which allowed me to win some great games online. And since last September, I go to proper casino to poker table. I seat and I play. I had lot of expectations at the beginning but they quickly felt down. Why ? I can't bluff, I don't why but players can always guess my moves. I do not use this strategy a lot coz I know I can't manage it but still, sometimes I really need to bluff and I loose myself doing it.

Do you have any advice you could give me to try to relax and actually succeed ?

Thanks for your help !

As I say, why do you need to bluff? Someone may call you on it. Specially live whence there are more tells that give it away. Don't bluff unless you're ready. :)

When I go to a gaming house, I don't immediately sit down to play, I generally try to study each player, who is professional, recreational, fearful and bluffing, when I sit down to play, I always accompany each player when receiving the cards and their expressions, with good or bad cards, I try to maintain and control my reactions, live it's more a game of strategies, knowledge and patience, that doesn't mean that everything will go smoothly with your bluff

Your question is important in the poker world but it is better to rephrase it and ask when not to bluff for real ?

Cardschat offers an interesting lesson about bluffing, it's course n°11 "the art of bluffing" it is recommended to follow this course.

There is no rule or standard for this, bluffing is a thing of the moment. When bluffing can be successful or unsuccessful, it depends on the moment, the circumstance, and the game you are bluffing against.

Well that could be a nut (trapping scenario). Bluffing is a very special theme in poker, take your spots and best is to have an exit strategy or have something that's not fully lost. Plan your hand. Try to work with a mirror/camera at home to work on tells, live games depend on that.

heres a verysimple thought example

Your k5s in position raise on the button gets called by BB
flop comes 10 10 6
this opponent often leads out when he hits small pairs or has draws like 78 98 6q k6 a6 etc
if we only have a stack depth of 15 BBs~
BB bets 1 or2 BB's into 7-8~

This is a great jam spot because his range, his tendency's are known to me and I can calculate his fold equity against his image and the EV...well she wants to marry me
'

gl out there

Its all about telling a story convincing the other you have enough to be ahead or to beat him, well if the story doesnt add up or the bet bluff was forced players can read on those, or the flop doesn't make any sense with your bluff:)

How would they tell if it was forced or not.
Unless you are giving a tell ie user error.

whether it is timing or bet sizing or range error could give them that information

OR it's user error again ..
they could be calling stations lol
And then you need to realize a completely different strategy against that opponent type

it will need sometime some experience ,like you show your cards several times when you have good cards and then if you feel like bluffing the opponenet will assume you have good cards ,and then boooom

I think it's going to depend on your image at the table whether or not you're going to be able to get bluffs through successfully or not. Around here where I play everyone wants to see some cards so it's normal to have 5-7 players to a flop. It can be hard to size up multiple players until a flop comes and the betting starts, which is what most players seem to depend on. I had to break that norm, lead out w/some crazy-sized 3-bet and hope to be heads-up for the flop, which is what I want. Once I've established that I've got, what appears to be, a premium starting hand I can bet what I want post-flop and tell the villain my story.

if you want to learn how to bluff, then learn this specially there are bluffing lessons that will help you bluff correctly, you need to learn and understand because you need to bluff correctly if you do it wrong then you will lose a lot of money, or better if you don't know how not to do it, and if you want, learn

it's easier to bluff when playing online, but it's more difficult in a live game because your opponents are watching you very carefully and reading your thoughts, when you bluff you have to learn how to bluff in real life, it wouldn't be so easy to detect

Why do you assume you're going to bluff at the start? Bluff is part of the game but it all depends on the scenario of the tournament. Better to use one less time than one too many.

It sounds like you're feeling frustrated with your poker game and are struggling with bluffing. One piece of advice I would suggest is to focus on playing a solid, straightforward game and avoid bluffing when possible. Instead, try to read your opponents' hands and make informed decisions based on the cards on the table. Additionally, taking breaks between games can help you relax and refocus. Finally, consider seeking out resources such as books or online tutorials to improve your poker skills.
