Laptop too. i7 2nd generation. The problem is that it is a bit old (10 years, I guess).
I want to buy a few things with poker money, and a new PC is one of them (a comfortable chair to play, a new mattress (I think it is older than my laptop), an exercise bike and pay a HUD).
Same here about the laptop. It's even worse than yours, I guess.
Intel i5-3210M @ 2.50GH , 8GB of RAM and I use slow HDD not SSD which might improve the overall performance, esp. when HM, PokerTracker or other database software is running along
I also use the integrated Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 instead of NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M, because it's no need for it.
About the chair - it should be comfortable and better buy something more expensive, but durable. My old office one lasted 3 years until I changed it. The problem is that it was in decent condition less than an year. Recently I bought "Arozzi - Verona Pro V2" which so far is excellent and some reviews claim that it stays in good shape for two years and maybe more, it's a 2020 model, I think.
Also the monitor is very important - the display of my laptop is 17' and I've played some time on it - not good for the eyes even when playing only 4 tables. Then I switched to 22' IPS monitor which I still use for watching videos, because of the good image quality and also is easy to move. Not like the new one - Dell - S3222DGM, 31.5", QHD, 1ms, VA, Curved which is ~10kg. It's great for poker and for gaming, although with my old laptop I'm playing mostly RPG games like Shadowrun trilogy, but some 5-10 years old 3D ones are playable too.
My point is that the ergonomics matter more than having a computer which might run the newest games at highest details. The important thing is the poker clients which you play on to run smoothly and this is doable with old ones, the cheapest newer or even some second-hand desktops or laptops bought from reputable store.
