Why micros are usually raked more than other limits?

The question is inspired by this message I saw today on pokerstars:

Ps rake

But regardless of the room, it was known that cash micro-stakes have the biggest rake and it was always advised to move up as quickly as possible, until then play tight there.

But why? Shouldn't it be the other way round? It glues players to the limit and prevents them not only from moving up, but also often from playing further at all (since it's more likely with higher rake to bust your BR).

And wouldn't increasing a bit rake on higher limits make more $ than trying to take away pennies from micros?

Even if the rake is lower in %, the poker site still earn more dollars on the more expensive game. So I guess its a way for them to encourage people to move up. I dont play Heads-up SnGs. But kind of sucks, that they find it nessesary to increase the rake for any games. I would much rather hear the opposite. Like for instance that they made a decision to cap the rake at max 10% for all SnGs and MTTs :(

But they're preventing players from moving up by setting the rake for micros of any format higher than for other limits. It just doesn't make sense.

Or always depositing fishes from micros bring so much money to them?

I guess only the management team at Stars can answer that, and they are not going to share their thoughts publicly. It is worth noting though, that for cash games the rake is actually lower at 2NL and 5NL. And there are also some micro SnGs with a low or at least reasonable rake like the On Demand games. At the end of the day we are customers, and if we find the rake on certain games to high, the logical choise is to not play them.
