Good for you. I am glad so many Negreanu fans look at this as a positive, that losing $1.2 million was good in your opinion!

Bad for you that you see big number and pee your pants looking at it without understanding the meaning of it for high stakes poker players

This match was really very good for all of US poker fans. The most watched match of all times. We greatly thank these guys.

This HU challenge was great for poker overall. Big props to DNegs for taking on a known online HU beast on his own territory.

I am not that surprised by the end result. I don't think anyone who really knows poker was. But big congrats to Doug nonetheless!

Maybe they can do it again one day on the live felt as well.

Let's be honest, Negraneau may have lost over a million dollars, but in such a bad year for poker, the exposure he got from this is worth much more. They both won just by staying relevant for another year. Guaranteed there are more people who know Doug Polk just because of this event.

This is a good point. Both got a big boost to their personal brands with this, which is worth potentially far more than any wins/losses in the challenge itself.

Oh good grief.

Yeah I frequently 'pee my pants' when someone punts off over a million of his own money. As for understanding the meaning for high stakes poker players, I presume therefore you must be one.

Who just happens to be hanging out on Cards Chat bossing it among the freerolls.

It was so predictable that the Negreanu fanboys would try to spin this any which way, but for the non fans it was great Polk took him for a milly plus.

Hmmm, not so sure on all of this. Good for poker yes, for Polk, yes, for Negreanu - I do not see how.

Poker got a boost with the challenge primarily because Negreanu is so polarizing - Polk is also to a degree. So what people were watching was a 'battle royale' hoping to see some pain inflicted. I think its typical of the poker industry to spin it one way or another whereas in most sport/competition people would accept a loss as being a loss.

If Dustin Johnson played Rory McIlroy 'heads up' in a series of golf rounds, many would watch and one could argue it was good for golf. However, if Johnson handed McIlroy his butt no one would say it had been great for McIlroys image, or that it would improve his game (?).

The other issue that Negreanu cannot escape after leaving pokerstars was is his inability to live stream the wsop and keep his public image intact. Prior to this it had been well tended but it fell apart in summer as he lost his temper repeatedly and ranted in a truly vulgar manner. He has kept that up on the DAT podcast and of course numerous times during his post 'challenge' interviews against Polk.

The fanboys might be fine with that but I think to neutrals it has left a bad taste in the mouth. Certainly from my perspective Negreanu's image has declined this year.

Over 2 million (to Doug... not sure about side wagers)

Doug was retired from poker & I believe has once again gone back into retirement.
Might increase business for his training site though.

I'd have to agree with this.
