I’ve noticed that most WPT tournaments, regardless of buy-in, have 2–3 hours of late registration. While I understand the reasoning—allowing more players to join and keeping prize pools healthy—it can be frustrating as a participant.

For early players, it often feels like the game hasn’t really started until well into the late registration period. Blinds are moving, and you’re waiting without the full field actually in play. It changes the flow and energy of the tournament and can be discouraging.

I’m curious if others feel the same. Is this long late reg window really necessary, or has it just become normalized because WPT does it? Could a shorter window, like 1–1.5 hours, maintain fairness and field size while making the experience more engaging for everyone?

Would love to hear your experiences and thoughts on this.

Didn't you notice we just had a thread about this in general?
It's still active and worth VIP chips.
