How would you play this

Live game $20 buy in players 3 people get paid, 4 players left, 2000 starting chips, 200-400 blinds LEVEL 3

I get delt on the button.

UTG min raise, I call, both blinds fold, 2 players

FLOP



UTG digs deep and overbets, 1500 chips to call, I have his stack well covered.

What would you do here, what range of hands could he be on ?? He is a good player a bit loose/aggressive. He knows my style and puts me down as a tight aggressive player. He is also eyeballing me.

What chip stack sizes did you and opponent have? Me, i'd call with top pair and wouldn't overanalyse it. What range of hands could he be on? Anything!

If he's small stack and pressurised by blinds he could be making a last stand.

I think I say call to every problem posted here! The books i have read all say it is better to lose an extra bet than lose pot you should have won. Obviously stack sizes are an issue. I came 2nd in tourney recently (robbed, see previous post), and I lost loads and loads of hands. Won some biggies too though, and not with the nuts.

No doubt I would call. Top pair without an ace on the board makes this a no brainer for me. If an ace hits on the turn (not a diamond) I'd then give it some thought. Actually, I'd probably push a raise at this point to see if they're fishing or confident...

Very read dependent. The minraise preflop is either (a) a (silly) attempt to induce someone into the pot and fall to his AA/KK, or (b) a weak play with a marginal hand. You say he's a good TAG, so we can probably discount (a), leaving us with many half-decent hands to consider. Is the minraise preflop from this player standard? Are the blinds incredibly weak players who will fold to minraises? What sort of hands is he showing down having minraised preflop? Will he give up on a bluff on the turn if called?

Stack sizes are obviously important here. If he doesn't have much more behind him and I have a big stack I'll push here. The eyeballing could be interpreted as a classic "strong means weak" tell, which would push me further towards a call/push (you don't want to base your decision on this alone though ).

Likely holdings? I'll take a stab at one of QJ, JT, KQ, KJ, A9, A5, in that order of likelihood.

The stack sizes are tenbob approx 6000 and UTG approx 4000, big stack has 7000 and small stack had approx 1.5BB left(LOL). So making the money here could have been an issue.

I know putting a min-raiser on a hand here is a difficult thing, there was no choice in my mind what to do, I was intersted in getting opinions on how other people would play this.

He might be chasing a straight. He doesn't have it yet and you have top pair. I would call. He could have two pair as well. K,9 or K, 5. I would still call because you have a higher card accompanying your King and could hit a 10 on the turn. Good Luck!

With those stack sizes and those bet's i'd either put him all in or fold. You know which one i'd choose. If you get it wrong you get it wrong. What happened?

As i said there was no hesitation on that one, he was min raising on big connectors all evening trying to build pots. I figured that he was on 10J, or KQ, but i figured a big push here and he would fold the KQ.

So I figured that the bet was trying to get me off the hand, I reckoned that i was facing the same bet again on the turn regardless if i called. I pushed all in. He folded like he was holding 72. And mucked J 10

i wouldve folded becasue u are not small stack, not reason to bet alot of chips when top 3 are paid, and there are 4 people left, u arent small stack, so let him be kncocked out byu some1 else or wait for a bigger hand, so u can get 3rd place and the moeny

I think a raise would defind whats he was holding like Irishdave said but folding other will take advantage of you so be a man and call it

No question CALL, after the turn, and the raise that he makes maybe going all in.

Thats the way I will play that hand. I belive he had a pair of 9's or may be 3 of a kind

my question is how much was in the pot before the bet because if you are paying 1500 to win 2100 with kings weak kick then get out, but if its 1500 to win 5000 then call, or 1500 to win 10000 raise. but this hand is a night mare.

the correct play if he over bet is to release it. wait till you have a better spot.

HE min bets = 800

you call (correctly) = 800

Pot = 2400

AND HE "OVERBETS" 1500???

1500 isn't an overbet, 1500 is well, average. I'd see it as a sign of weakness and puch all in.

At that point I would have done exactly what you did and gone all in. If he had Aces or 2 pair he probabaly would have brought out a smaller bet from the play you describe. With your Ks you want to take away any foolish plays on his part or just letting him just coast along.
