Help on How To Build a Pot in NLHE

Any advice on how to build good pots in NLHE?

early in tournament - so stack size is even

in position has to be easier than out of position

In NLHE when I'm betting all 3 streets it is usually 1/2 or 1/3 of the pot.

So I always find it useful to raise preflop to create a good base to bet 1/2 the pot on each of the 3 streets.

What limits do you play at? If it's micro-limits, an aggressive style of play won't work; you'll be taken away or even outplayed with useless cards.

I play mostly micro limits.

I understand what you mean because they don't fold.

In this case they it is even more important to raise and even 3-bet a standard amount with good cards.

The math demands more money in the pot when you have good cards. That is....if you want to win more chips.

If 5 players call you down every street then it is likely one of them will get there by the river to beat you.

Other times you will win a big pot because your opponents are contributing and paying to draw more cards.

You can try overbets if you have sticky opponents. Seems to work very well. Raises on the flop and river are great too, not so much on the turn because that scares players off.

I would start with good cards, good pots are the pots you win!!
