If you won big, what's the first thing you'd buy (or not buy)?

The first thing I'd spend money on is a world sea trip over several months. Or a house, it's a tough decision, a house is probably better for the long run, but you can play so much Poker on a cruise ship, and win all that money again and then buy a house, yes that's probably optimal.

A distant relative won €1 million on a €20 lottery ticket a little over six years ago. They decided to keep the win a secret, but the number of relatives and old friends who found out and came out of their way was truly remarkable! Everyone expected large checks and wire transfers out of nowhere. From that day on, I promised myself I'd never reveal my identity if I won big.I would buy a house in Dubai, but right away.I probably wouldn't even quit my job, at least not right away. Announcing it to the whole world is just asking for trouble.

I'd consider a big win 5m+. Put it all into safer longer term invests that pay out yearly. Even at only a 5% return that should quite easily be able to make 200k+/yr. Wouldn't quit my job cause well that would be pretty hard considering I'm the owner/manager, I enjoy what I do and I couldn't leave 10+ good employees and people unemployed. I'd sure promote/find someone to help with the management part cause I'd certainly be cutting back my hours quite a bit.

Take care of mom she's the only family left with some money so she never has to worry again.

Now with all the work done it's time to have some fun and head on some vacations with the wife to play some select EPT, WPT. Triton Poker events and the wsop Main Event. Those poker tours visit some really nice destinations for vacations.

It's crazy but I'm about to move out of my parents house and build my on room from my poker winnings.
If I make another deep run in a big tournament, I'd buy things for my new place. TV, Fridge etc

Big houses are more hassle than they are worth. Plus in canada there's this real estate scam where housing values keep going up and so the taxes paid for living in the house keep going up. I'd probably just go travel the world.
