Hi guys

I was wanting you opinion on a hypothetical situation.

Lets say I have a bankroll of $20,000.

I play at $200NL tables.

My main aim is to make money as a part time job.

Lets say I have a winning week and make $800.

What do you do? Do you take all of this $800 and spend it as if it was money made from working at a normal job or do you add some of it onto your bankroll?

How about if I have a losing week and drop $500.

The next week I make $800 again. Do I add the $500 I lost back to my bankroll and spend the $300, or is my bankroll specifically there as a back up to fund my buyin's should I have a losing session and I shouldn't be concerned should it drop a little?

The main thing I am asking is should I withdrawl all my winnings as a weekly wage or should i continue to build my bankroll with some of my winnings.

Note - this is presuming that I do not want to move up levels and am comfortable playing $200NL all the time.

Thanks

I don't play poker for a living, but here's what I do:

I keep track of "lifetime winnings." Whenever my lifetime winnings reach a new $100-level, I cash out $100. Therefore, it goes like this:

When my bankroll reaches, say, $500 for the first time, I cash out $100 and note that I have done so. My bankroll goes down to $400. I now keep playing until I reach $600, and cash out another $100. Etc.

If you take "half" the winnings, you always run the risk of ending up with less than you started with since you're bound to have good weeks and bad weeks. But figure out what works for you, and if you actually intend to live off of the money then you're going to need some sort of minimum acceptable income anyway.
