Playing too many or too few hands, wrong value bet, playing out of position, ignoring position, overbet, using/not using bluff, not observing the opponent, etc. many things you can do wrong as a beginner. I'm not far from a beginner either and I can make a lot of mistakes

In live Poker: They say "Raise" when it's actually only a bet.

Lack of experience results in many mistakes such as lack of discipline, making decisions based on emotions, or playing too many hands.

For me the worst rookie mistake is calling too much. New players hate folding and end up paying off every hand. Learning when to let go of marginal hands is the first real step toward improving.

What are the classic mistakes that beginners usually make?
The classic mistake beginners make in poker is jumping in with no plan whatsoever. No bankroll management, no mental preparation, and just hoping to get lucky. The main error is being an adventurer—playing unprepared and not really understanding the risks of the game. These aren't necessarily technical mistakes; they're errors in emotional control, a lack of discipline over yourself and what you're actually doing. They're just flying by the seat of their pants instead of treating it like a skill-based game.

I think, that it is to play with all hands. When you are new to this game, you have to play slow not agressive or bluf. Just focus on max 3 tournaments at one session. And ofcourse , do not expect to win every tournament.😎

These 5 mistakes are typical for poker beginners:

  1. Lack of bankroll management:
Understanding the need of a poker bankroll management
Insufficient money in the bank for losses or bluffs.

  2. Insufficient hand ranking knowledge:
Not knowing correct hand rankings (e.g., Royal Flush, Straight Flush) can lead to suboptimal decisions.

  3. Not considering position:
Players who don't consider their position at the table are often picked off by opponents with stronger hands.

  4. Falling for the "get all-in" trap:
All-in betting can backfire and scare opponents into folding weak hands.

  5. Not learning from mistakes and adapting to variance:
Failing to learn from losses and adapt your strategy can lead to repeated mistakes and frustration.

The biggest mistake I made when starting out was believing higher buy ins meant better players. I find a lot of cardschat freerolls to be more skilled than tournaments I buy in at $11 where people call off all ins pre flop with any 2 cards.

I saw you raise call off 60bb's TODAY in the Cardschat Freeroll on partypoker with KQ, lol. (Kettle < > Pot)

Personally I think the biggest mistake newer players make is playing too many hands.
Next, playing hands from out of position
and lastly, Calling big river bets > Not believing they have it
