Why do i play great and bad?

Ive been playing online for a few years now.
Im not good, but I enjoy it.
I play mainly freerolls.
Ive had some 1st place finishes, but mostly I get knocked at the low end of the payout range.

I have no idea why I can play really well one day, then really bad another.
online poker can be frustrating, especially when I lose to hand that shouldn't have made it past the first round of betting.
I don't even bother betting for the first 10 or so hands because of the all-in mentality of most players.

What should I do to improve my game?

To constantly improve, you need a network of good players to guide you in the best way to achieve significant progress. Poker is a game with a lot of variance, meaning it's perfectly normal to be eliminated several times outside the money (ITM) or in the early game. Generally, if you're an excellent player, you'll have approximately a 30% ITM percentage, and 12% to 15% will reach the final stages of the tournament. So, keep that in mind to avoid frustration with quick eliminations in tournaments. GL bro

It sounds like you’ve already got the right mindset — enjoying the game is the most important part. Freerolls can be tough because the player pool is full of people who shove all-in with anything, so variance is huge. A few thoughts that might help you improve:

• Bankroll & patience: Don’t worry too much about early bust-outs in freerolls. The structure rewards patience, so folding those first 10 hands is actually fine.
• Focus on position: Learn to play stronger hands in late position. You’ll have more information and can control the pot better.

Poker is like live, you have good days even when you feel bad, or good days when you feel great, and so on.
There are a lot of things that have influence on your daily mood, your play style and so on.
You can play A-Game and lose, you can play F-Game and win.
The goal is to achieve some kind of stability in a lot of areas that have influence on your life, your poker play.
This can be achieved in multiple ways, studying the game, mental health studies, body health studies and so on.

To improve the game, treat it as work and work on the game, and freerolls are not an indicator of the game, you need to play a lot and not consider losers as failures

In order to improve you have to assess your skills. In order to do that you need data. The best data you can get is with a poker tracker. It will track all of your hands not just the hands you lost with.
You may be winning pots where your equity was low and thinking you should play those pots again in the same way. That would lead to inconsistent results.
You may be winning large pots with the best hand vs players who do not know to fold but when you make the same over bets or all-ins to not be called by other players thus losing value from your best hands more often than the calls make up for.

There are many other mistakes we make as well.

Only data will tell the story--we need to see all our hands to know the true story.

Your concept is good, similar to mine. After all, in a freeroll you can only win, not lose. Remember that poker is a game of chance. The best way to improve is to play as much as possible.

What should I do to improve my game?

You have to start balancing out your expectations, espescially if you're playing massive field freerolls.

First understand that not that much of the result is actually down to you in those fields with crazy players, if there are 500 players then you're doing OK hitting a FT once every 80 games or so?? The rest of the time poker variance will eat you up.

If you want to improve, you need to use these games as only ways to get some money for real money games, then play them.

In freerolls I would do the opposite of what you're doing, if its large fields, and people are crazy at the beginning, then feel free to go with your big hands, accept it when you lose, but sometimes you will go on a roll with a decent stack and you can play better poker later in the freeroll if you make it. The rest of the time, you haven't wasted too much time on it!

It sounds like variance, unless you are actually talking about your decisions in each hand rather than the outcome.

Tonight I've placed 1st in 2 tournaments, and 2nd in the last to win a $109 ticket.

I think it's a mindset thing. Ive also started to notice other players betting patterns, and those stupid emoji throwing things.

Ive never played a real in person game.
I know that in person and Internet are two different worlds. But, does it help to improve your game by playing real games?
