I play with numbers because I've always liked numbers and I enjoy knowing their relationship to my initial and current stack, as well as other factors, always using numbers!
I always think in big blinds. It keeps decisions clearer and makes it easier to compare stack sizes, pot odds, and ranges across different tournaments. Chips alone don’t mean much without the BB context.
I use BB with multiple tables open; it is easier to make a decision based on BB. I would switch to the number of chips if I am planning to play a live event.
A stack in the BB is more practical because you know what to do with a certain amount of BB. When the stack is in chips, it doesn't tell you about the state of the stack. Let's say you have 1kk chips, what's the point if the big blind is 500k?
Maybe I'm just odd to switch between the two like this but when playing cash I just like know how $$$ I have on the table but in MTT's I need and wanna know how many BB I have left. Easier to know when to ramp up aggression in MTT's when you start to get short.
i always want to see my chips but as soon as it turns serious i switch to BB. Its not even because pros advice that but it makes me feels calmer to play if i do not see the high amount of chips..
