I’ve been grinding the micros and noticed that sometimes the biggest improvements come from very small changes,
like taking notes, folding earlier or not checking results during sessions.

What’s the smallest habit or adjustment that made the biggest difference for you?

Having checked the analytics, I am now trying to play the NIT strategy at the beginning of the tournament and TAG in the middle. I constantly repeat the strategic moments of the plays on different types of boards, and the sizing—because of this, my deep runs have become more stable, and I am more often in the ITM. This is the only way to get out of the micro-limits. Good luck to everyone at the tables!!

Playing a tournament with a smaller number of people is also helping me.

We were farther away from a grand prize, but I've been a bit more lucrative that way.

I don't know if it can be considered something simple, but watching poker tournament broadcasts on TV has helped me improve my game.

Game wise, I started checking back frequently. I used to lead with my second pair, straight/flush draws but lately I've learned to check more, it avoid me being re-raised and gets me to see the next card for free.

In my case, I think learning to read the players is key. Before, I only played with good hands, but the game isn't always on your side and you don't always get more good hands, so I had to learn to adapt by paying attention to each player. Now, of course, I'm taking notes about them, which helps a lot.

I stopped playing with junk :)
It turned out to be not as difficult as I thought, and that's what radically changed my results. Poker started to bring me profit :)

At first I liked playing all hands, but that caused my big blinds to evaporate. I started playing mostly value hands.

I use to watch carefully for opponents timing on specific tables

For me, it was playing fewer hands and folding more in marginal spots. Simply avoiding thin, low-EV situations reduced variance a lot and improved overall results, especially in the micros.

I learned that survival is everything. And sometimes you won't win, so climb the ladder. Poker is dynamic.Play cautiously and around the money. You need to adjust to the stack sizes, but many people play insanely tight in these situations, and you need to recognize and exploit this.

For me, the biggest game-changer was hiding the cashier and not checking my session results until the end of the week. It completely removed the emotional rollercoaster of being 'up' or 'down' during a session and let me focus purely on making the right decisions.

For me, it was slowing down. Taking a few extra seconds before every decision especially in tough spots reduced mistakes, controlled tilt, and added consistency. Small habits don’t look powerful, but over time, they change everything.

One tiny habit that helped a lot: taking short notes only on showdowns. I stopped writing essays and just tagged things like "overvalues top pair" or "bluffs missed draws". After a while, those little notes really add up, especially vs regs.

Don't bluff!! Only against players who know what they're talking about.

I had to learn to be patient, not to let tilt myself by players who are constantly raising and going AllIn with bad cards. Since then I made it fuether in tournaments everytime.

Should change my mind and stop getting annoyed by manic players who raise every crappy hand.

I started to play all-ins from short-stacked opponents more loosely, which can sometimes be the ticket to the final table.
