I don't believe this:
"no sized raise gets them out"
A lot of times players will play suited cards in large pots, in order to get them out raise 3-4x the BB + 1 BB for every limper in the pot.
So, lets say at a 9-handed table, you are sitting on the Button and 5 people are in the pot ahead of you, including the SB and BB, and blinds are at 100-200 lets say. You get dealt KK...you should raise the pot to 1200-1400. Not many players will call with junk in this situation.
SOme bad players might get lucky on you a couple times, but in the long run, you will crush these players if they continue to call your raises with trash
hands and then proceed to hit nothing at all (which is what usually happens).
