I don't know if i've ever seen this topic brought up, and it may be a dumb question, but here goes...

so i'm playing in a huge freeroll tonight, almost 5000 players, and of the ten at the table i was seated at in the beginning, eight were sitting out, and without even talking about it, myself and the only other person at the table who wasn't sitting out, began splitting the blinds, taking every other pot. no matter what we had, we'd fold and raise every other pot. is that collusion? Should we have duked it out, essentially heads up, even with all the sitters? I didn't know the guy or anything. Like i said, it may be a dumb question, but i just wanted to see what everyone thought.

I have done the exact same thing more times than I can count! I am sure somebody could make a case for collusion but to be honest when in that situation it would be stupid to not jump on the opportunity to basically punch a free ticket to the money...

Minds Thinking Alike

Hello All:

I have experienced this an awful lot here lately on Titanpoker, it's ironic that you brought that up because it's been happening to me more than what I was willing to admit. I thank you for letting the cat out of the bag nate, because several people on Titan that I never met but see on-line all the time have found ourself's basically splitting the sit-out's blinds just yesterday. I sign up expecting to play a doggy-dog tourney, when almost half the people are sitting out. I personally don't feel responsible for people trying to play in two to three tourney's at the same time, to me it's like an lack of planing on there part for failing to prioritize.

P.S. That's just my opinion, all other's do like the NFL an make the call.

I've done it before and I think it's the smartest thing to do in that situation. I would do it in a live game if the situation presented itself.

If people sign up for a tournament they need to play. If they don't play after a certain amount of time, they should be disqualified.

That's the poker room's fault for letting them sit out the whole tournament. Not yours.

It's a freeroll, I doubt the site will give much of a crap about it. And anyway, as long as neither of you actually said "hey let's split these guys blinds" then it's not really collusion anyway.

It's no more collusion than the "cooperation play" at the end of a tournament where 2 or more players call the low stacks all-in and proceed to check it down to the river. As long as your agreement is unspoken and just assumed,I don't see a problem.

nothing wrong with that.

but il tell you what is annoying... when you down to the last 3 or 4 then site dissconects (happens more than you would think becuase im on wireless internet) then people just riase it and fold untill you back and take one or two blinds off you. Its happened where iv been first, got back 3 hands later and been 3rd then gone out trying to get back into it.
If someone dissconects when down tot he last 4 please use your extra time bank to wait untill they get back. I do this for anyone, in the hope they will do it back to me next time.

I was at a table on titan once and there were 3 of us not sat out.

The other two wanted to take the blinds, I refused, busted both of them then took all the blinds to myself as well ;]

i just play my game and try to bust anybody out, but once at Fulltilt in a SNG i busted 3 guys out and the remaining 5 were sitting out, so i just sat there for over half an hour just raising, taking the chips till i won it.

If it is unspoken then I agree it is o.k., but I'm like Grum I would rather bust the player and take it all. You're wasting good cards on the laydowns.

Hell yea its collusion ! But smart collusion. I came acros this in a $20 sit and go on stars a while back. 3 places paid, 4 players left with one sitter. The other 2 players wanted to blind him out. NO WAY, so i stole ALL their blinds till he was out. !

I've done this a few times before too, and as far as i'm concerned, it's the site's fault for not breaking up the sitters. My table had eight, but others had no sitters. Ordinarily i wouldn't have thought anything of it, but this freeroll had a seat to the main event at the wsop as it's first prize, and a couple grand in additional prizes paid out to the final table, so i thought it would be just my luck if i did do well, then get accused of something i didn't even set out to do. I do wonder what the poker sites would think about this though. thanks for your responces folks.

I got yelled at for raising every pot when there were only three of us left, one guy sitting out and the third guy on a low stack. The low stack was panickingly realizing that while the other guy was sitting out, he himself would be blinded out faster if he didn't call one of my raises at some point.

My, was he upset.

"WHAT ARE U DOING????? HE'S SITTING OUT!!!!"

I won. ;)
