In poker, patience is one of the most powerful weapons. Getting in the pot isn't always the best move — often the key is waiting for the right hand at the right time.

Positions directly influence this strategy:

UTG (Under The Gun) — The action begins. It requires maximum caution and strong hands.

MP (Middle Position) — A bit more comfortable, but still requires hand selection.

CO (Cutoff) — Excellent position for controlled aggressiveness.

BTN (Button) — The best table position. You can extend the range and get started.

SB and BB — They are already committed to blinds; it is necessary to balance defense and selectivity.

Combine patience + position reading, transform risky decisions into intelligent moves. In the tournament, those who know how to wait and act at the right time always go further.

Patience and position are basically the backbone of Texas Hold’em. Patience keeps you from bleeding chips by playing junk hands just because you’re bored. Waiting for the right spots is what separates solid players from gamblers. Position is the other huge edge — acting last gives you more info, lets you control pot size, and makes your bluffs more believable. If you combine patience with smart positional play, you’ll avoid tough spots and maximize value when you actually hit.
