This is a fallacy. Probably because there is an assumption that high-stakes players play poker more predictably. But if you can’t win against low stakes players, you won’t be successful or have the right skills to play against high-stakes players.

There’s a reason for the quote, “If you don’t know who the fish is at your table, it is probably you!”

And losing at high-stakes is an expensive lesson to learn!

Hey there,
i highly recommend not to believe that nonsense. Amateurs may believe higher stakes are easier because they assume opponents will be more cautious due to the increased financial risk, making it easier to bluff or exploit their perceived fear of losing money. Or the known quote: Iam a better poker player vs exp. players...
Also garbage. Sure perhaps at some times, but not consistently and profitable.

Their point of view is often wrong, as higher stakes also feature fewer bad players and better mathematical play. Low-stakes games can be harder for experienced players because the lack of fear or understanding can make opponents more unpredictable and prone to calling every bet, a phenomenon sometimes called a "calling station". But i can guarantee you: the higher the stakes, the lower your edge. Please never think you are something special or you can beat the variance and its best players easily.

The problem with playing at micros, and I'm talking mainly about tournaments, is that it's hard to know what cards some (not all) players have, because they play with any two cards.

Well if I ever come in to a large sum of money and my disposable income increases I`ll let you know. Although, I imagine crossing the line between playing for fun and playing to try and make money, you will inevitably meet people who have been doing it longer and more successfully than yourself. Maybe this fallacy comes from the perception that in low stakes games people do things they would never do if the stakes were higher but ultimately that can alter depending on how much money an individual person has, low stakes and high stakes meaning differs according to your back account size I guess.

Hello. I think that high buy in tournaments are played more carefully when paying some bets, for example all in, they are not paid out many times. On the other hand, in low buy-in tournaments it is very common to go all in and pay with garbage hands. I think so

Absolutely not true at all, low stakes have the easiest players to play against, high stakes are the best of the best for a reason.

i would imagine if you're putting a lot of money into a game it's beucase you're good or gonna be less risky so wouldnt expect high stakes to be easier
