10 reviews written for Casino.us

We review the top online casinos, both sweepstakes and real money, on the market and update our reviews when there are new offers or fresh features available. We examine seven key criteria to judge casinos using the same metrics, giving you a balanced and informative review.

Online Casinos to Avoid

In addition to legal options, such as real money casinos and sweepstakes casinos, some players might be enticed by offshore casinos. Although offshore casinos may hold legitimate licenses issued by foreign regulators, such as the Malta Gaming Authority, they are not legal in the United States. Additionally, many offshore casinos do not adhere to high standards of player safety or fair play. These casinos have not earned our recommendation:

Always be sure to carefully read the bonus terms and conditions, especially wagering requirements, exclusions, and time limits. These can make the difference between successfully clearing your bonus and missing out entirely. I personally always review the terms and conditions before I sign up to a site, just so there aren’t any surprises down the line.

License Regulation SSL encryption
Security is one of the most important criteria we consider when analyzing casinos. We check to ensure that sites utilize firewalls, SSL encryption, and other security tools to protect your personal and financial data. Plus, we like to see checks of payout percentages conducted by third-party auditors like eCOGRA.
Additionally, we conduct background checks on regulated online casinos to ensure that they hold current and valid licenses in their respective states. We verify this information with state licensing authorities, such as the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

Gambling Law in the United States

As gambling regulations are decided at the state level, the US has some of the most diverse gambling laws in the entire world. In addition to land-based casinos, most Americans have access to at least one of the following: regulated real money casinos, sweepstakes casinos, social casinos, or prediction markets.

  • Real money online casinos are available in seven states and allow players to wager and win cash by playing casino games like slots and blackjack.
  • Sweepstakes casinos are currently available in 40 states and give players the opportunity to play casino-style games for virtual currencies, which can be redeemed for prizes (including gift cards and cash).
  • Prediction markets offer you the opportunity to trade contracts on a wide array of events, including entertainment, sports, and current affairs. As prediction market trading is relatively new, regulation is constantly evolving, with litigation ongoing in states including Illinois and Ohio.
