I learned to play only with the money I can afford to spend. I learned and gained an understanding of what bankroll management is and how important it can be.

I don't remember learning anything in particular except maybe that I have a talent for it.
Later I developed a lot mentally, and maybe my time management became better.
And the most important thing I learned is to only worry about what I can control, and not let go of what I can't.

the most important lesson is to never take competing for granted...always study the environment before committing to anything. i must have plaed 3 years before i read my first poker book...that book made everything that was going wrong crystal clear....except why someone would open shove 62off last hand before the break and crack my aces

Something basic aside from the rules.. like AA and premium hands are never a limp (well, almost never a limp, but it's never for beginner players), 72o is the worst hand in poker, of suit hands have worse equity and should be played less, good players are the aggressive players, who often making others take difficult decisions, not the curious ones who play passive just "to see what's there next". That ATo is a pretty much a trash hand and is a lot worse than it looks like and so on.

It's hard to recall specifics really. It's many many basic things which cover different aspects of play.
