For me, it's emotional control - staying calm after losses. What skill do you think takes the longest to truly master?

Exactly what you said, but prior to the action, sometimes I lock myself to an action preflop and stick to it no matter what action took place before mine.

To stay calm during down swings or loss, I am doing well with deep breath.

In my long and unremarkable career, it's patience. Overvaluing marginal hands simply because you're bored or the cards aren't going your way.

The hardest skill to master in poker is emotional control, often called tilt management.
Keeping your emotions steady under swings lets you make rational decisions instead of chasing losses or overbetting when frustrated.
It requires self-awareness, routines to reset between hands, and the discipline to fold good-looking hands when logic says so.
Even technically perfect players lose when their mindset cracks, because tilt distorts risk assessment and timing.
Mastering this quietly changes every other part of your game and separates consistent winners from talented but inconsistent players.

There isn't just one there's about 4-5 that the vast majority struggle with and you can't be winning player long term without being at least decent at them all. bankroll management. Mental toughness/tilt control. Patience. Discipline. Game selection.

Cheers!!!

Mastery, ha-ha, as they say:" What did you dream the next night"? You study, play evaluate, reevaluate, etc. etc. You strive for competence & seek improvement or you regress. It's what keeps the game interesting.

I totally agree with that. Controlling emotions is tough, especially after a few unlucky hands — it’s what separates consistent players from impulsive ones.

I agree with you — emotional control is probably the hardest. It takes time and real experience to master tilt control.

There are several aspects of poker that can be difficult to master, but one of the most challenging is bluffing and reading your opponents. Reading your opponents isn't just about analyzing their bets, but also observing their behavior and tone. This requires practice and experience. Bluffing can be emotionally challenging, especially if you're feeling pressured or afraid of being caught. Maintaining calm and confidence in these situations is an essential skill.
