Hello poker lovers.
I recently read articles about the lucky players of the Sunday Million. I decided to share one story that I am not able to understand.

We are talking about a player from Russia: I7AXA. Let me tell you, it was in 2011.
The player finished 2nd in the Sunday Million and won $150,000. Not bad. But the story doesn't end there.
I tried to find something about this guy. As it turned out, the player clearly did not shine, and was in the red by $7,500.

So what surprised me?
I7AXA did not use the money, but went to play at high limits. In less than a day, he lost everything. What? Is it really that hard to stop?

Why do you think this happened?

That wasn't very clever of him. 🙊

Best advice for such events is:
Take a step back and sleep carefully about any decision. ☺️

There can be many reasons for such a development. Personally, I think that this player is just a bingo player and not a poker player.

I think, in general, this dude nothing lost: only the money, that he won... There is a good saying: "As money easy came,
so and easy they gone out..." Nothing more, and nothing less!

To be honest, the guy was very lucky in this case to win that kind of money. Yes, you are right about stopping after losing. Some lose their heads and try to get their money back and end up losing even more. I saw such situations in movies about poker and there are life facts. We need to soberly assess the situation. Even slot machines have this trend. There are people who lose everything if they have a hit in their head.

I don't think it has anything to do with poker, it's something psychological, it wasn't the game or the money.
It's just my opinion.

I think he's just another compulsive gambler.
He tried to play an MTT and the play worked out well.
And since the move went well, it went for more and he just entered the game where it is full of sharks and he was the bait.
It's simple, it's like going to the casino, playing roulette one night and winning the bank. If you go the next two days to destroy the bank, you end up losing everything.
I think that to really know if a poker player is a Pro you have to look at how they regulate their winnings and losses. ROI is critical in this.
Attention, there are old players who today report as a great poker legend, and I have read about some who are burdened by debt.
At least I play MTT and SGN, the cash tables are not for me, I already have bad experiences.
Cheers;););)

Good afternoon. That is why a good bankroll management is so important in this game. That player had a lucky day and thought his next sessions would be the same.Unfortunately,he was completely wrong. If I won that amount of money,I would withdraw most of it.That is good money everywhere.I would not make that mistake

gambling addiction is very similar to drug addiction - it is very difficult to cure, you need to at least stop it"

Yes, especially when I play all kinds of cash, sit&go hyper or spin&go, I think the best thing to not fall into this situation is to play slow and turbo tournaments or sit&go only.
The truth is I'm completely losing control even though I know I'm in badbeat and I'm going to lose without a doubt, so far I haven't found a way or something like that to make me control myself and stop playing when I'm in this tough situation

I don't know if this player was used to play in high limits, but if he was a small or medium stakes player and got lucky finishing in 2nd in sunday millon, he probably was not used to play with that much money in his bankroll. So,I think he thought he could keep winning large amounts of money and made the mistake to start to play in limits he could not afford in the long run.

Yes. I actually used to have problems with it and just couldn't stop as soon as I made losses. But as you get more experienced and of course older (at least my own experience), you play much more cautiously. I consider poker only as a hobby and play almost only freerolls. That way I learn to control myself much better before I move up a level.

I believe that if you are playing serious poker you cant stop playing because you're losing and you cant continue because you are winning. Good players are always studying their game and making reviews to play better next time. Also they have a good bankroll managementso lets say i just now started to play $10 mtts and things are not so good maybe i need to go back and play $7 while i improve my game

If you play like a player, you know the exact moment to stop. But if you play like amateur, your instinct pull off to go forward even you are losing.

There are people who play hobby games with caution who, by winning a larger amount, pay it out, leaving themselves 10% to 20% for further play. There are also those who think that if they won once, they will win every time, the game draws them in and they usually wake up broke. It is one thing to play a professional player who assumes a percentage of losers, and another one to an amateur who accidentally wins a larger sum.
