Such stories show that luck cannot be eternal. Perhaps improper bankroll management and greed played a cruel joke on the player.

At first I would always chase winnings the same as I used to with horses but it is a recipe for Brokeville Junction unless you get super lucky, playing when tilted is not a good idea.

I know from experience how difficult it is to stop the game. Fortunately, I did not lose such big money.

It happend to me in a Lower scale lol, 12k lost in a week, I was new to poker back then! :)
so YES it is very possible, how I felt then was after losing a couple thousands in tourney buy in I wanted it back as if I felt so bad I lost it so easy, so I played cash games and won 4k so now I was up, then felt invincible again play high staked MTT buy-in and lost and did the same until I lost it all mostly in cash games, also by the time I had 3.5k it felt as if i lost everything and i did not care, however I was only able to think clearly after it gone with deep regrets, but this was 12 years ago Im a different player now :)

Hello poker lovers.
I recently read articles about the lucky players of the Sunday Million. I decided to share one story that I am not able to understand.

We are talking about a player from Russia: I7AXA. Let me tell you, it was in 2011.
The player finished 2nd in the Sunday Million and won $150,000. Not bad. But the story doesn't end there.
I tried to find something about this guy. As it turned out, the player clearly did not shine, and was in the red by $7,500.

So what surprised me?
I7AXA did not use the money, but went to play at high limits. In less than a day, he lost everything. What? Is it really that hard to stop?

Why do you think this happened?
When you lose it is very difficult to stop, it really is. No wonder gambling is considered a disease.

Not for me...I can switch it off if I suffer a pathetic call that hits.

it's the fun, the adrenaline, good things are expensive, laughs.
This is because the fun, the pleasure that comes from winning, is worth defeat. ouAHE UOIhe oUIHe oe oUIeh OIUAeh OIAUH IOUAeh OIAUeh OAIUe

and knowing how to manage with defeats, he will win them all.

I can only guess why this would happen but I would liken your Russian player with many addicted gamblers in casinos and at Racetracks...They are always looking for the next BIG O)NE...and it never comes...

In my opinion, the greed factor is at play here:( This can be seen in casinos and sports betting as well. If, for example, you bet money on a sport and the bet has gone, it seems to you that you are an expert in this sport and you continue to bet. If the bet has gone, there will also be a new bet until you lose. This is the principle of all gambling:rolleyes:

Tilt is one of the most serious problems for poker players. I think that he simply could not cope with this and stop in time.

Pretty sure he got overconfident, probably he got very lucky at the tourney and was sure his skills were on par with good professionals.

Sad as he could have done a lot of nice things with this money.

Peter Eastgate wsop 2008 champion reportedly lost over 500.000 USD waiting for a flight, should be ok as he won 9.000.000 USD. Then further 2 on sportsbetting but he was clever enough to stop poker and gambling before the money ran out. Here is an article about him https://www.casino.org/blog/what-happened-to-peter-eastgate/

Yes it can be. Especially on a day when you just seem to get no luck. Best thing to do is leave it for that day

I have no problem calling it a day if I hit a certain point of losses or tilt. Sometimes poker doesn’t go acc to plan no matter how good you play or get in ahead every time. Variance can be torture but it’s part of the great game. If I’m not doing well sometimes I hit a stop loss or aggravation point that is my break point For the session.

It depends on each player and especially on the mind. If a player can continue to play his A game why not continue to play, but if it's a player who loses his concentration and starts to do anything in this case I think he must stop.

Yes i am a player who continues to play until I've won my money back lol. A few times I had to go to sleep before I was able to recoup my losses but usually I am lucky and am able to win my monies back lol.

In cash games is as hard to stop when you lose as It's hard to stop when you're winning.
