When there's no motivation, there's no point in playing at all. If a tournament is really exciting, I can force myself to play even when I'm tired. In general, need to better manage work and play time.

Poker does not go anywhere, just focus on weekends and holidays or what ever, no point playing when tired anyway. It is supposed to be fun way to spend time, at least for me it is my hobby to which I give the extra time I have. But it is nothing I am forced to do and if I would make myself play when I don't feel like playing. Keep it fun. :)

When I come home from 1st shift , I use to take 1-2h nap and after that I open some tables.
When I'm tired I can't keep my A game so I prefer to sleep before

Yeah. I'm too tired too. Just play on weekends if you have one.

When you don't have much time, don't play, or if you're going to play even if you don't have time, play the hyper tournaments, they have a shorter duration so you can fit it into your day.

If you just want to play out of obligation, especially when you're tired, don't expect good results. You don't have to play every day, but you certainly shouldn't do it when you're tired.

It is not recommended to play like this.
You shouldn't play when you are tired, because not only will you suffer unnecessary losses, but you will also be disappointed with the game. You should play when you have time for it. If you don't have time, if you are tired, it is better to go to sleep, because sleep will save you money :)

That’s a really honest take, and I agree. Motivation and mental energy matter just as much as skill in poker. Playing without focus usually turns into bad decisions and spew. For me, the key is selectivity—only playing when I’m mentally present, or when a tournament is genuinely exciting and worth the effort. Better work–play balance also helps keep poker enjoyable instead of feeling like a grind. Quality sessions always beat forced volume.

Definitely not recommended. Playing while tired is essentially a massive leak in your strategy. Your brain goes on 'auto-pilot,' you miss thin value bets, and you're much more prone to tilt. Quality over quantity always wins in poker. If you're too exhausted to play your A-game, it’s better to just rest or watch a training video instead.

No, don’t play when you are tired. You will make wrong decisions and won’t put yourself in a good position to win. Poker is a strategy game, you need to be sharp to keep your logical thinking.

it's hard, I know how it feels, I work as a dealer (card dealing) and the work it's in night hours, the other day when I wakeup I play poorly, I can feel my body tired, but I do play anyway, I lower buy ins if too tired, or simple dont play if i'm not in the mood...

Not very different from other people said but.. I recomend you to test everyone's else experiences and see what's best for you

Yes, playing this way is a waste of time and money. If you want to play and combine poker with work, then you just have to find a job that allows you to do so.
In general, it all depends on your goals. If poker is just entertainment for you, then I would advise you to play exclusively on weekends. If poker is a prospect for future earnings for you, then I would advise you to play on weekends and study the game on weekdays. It is quite realistic, even if you are tired after work, to find 20 minutes in the evening to read something or analyze something.

Playing when I'm tired is very difficult; I get distracted and want to speed up the game, but it usually doesn't work.

Fatigue affects focus and decision-making. Sometimes it’s better to rest or play shorter sessions only when you feel more energized.

poker is all about your state of mind and what you are describing is not much motivating. You should look to study on those days and play on days you're not working or tired.

I understand you. Lately I've been working hours that don't match the tournaments I like to play in, and I'm working a lot of overtime. When I get home, I just want to rest. So the only day I have left to play is Sunday.

In my case, it's the time I have to play; as long as the game is enjoyable for me, that's the time I can play.

Try playing poker in your spare time after resting. Playing when you're tired can be counterproductive.
