What do you think of this deal? The Raiders gave up what could basically be 2 1st round picks for him - that was a lot to give up.

ckingriches said:Only time will tell as to whether bringing him to Oakland was the right move to make. There weren't a lot of options out there, especially since Garrard has surgery coming - that would have been a much smarter move.
Either way, however, they're giving up way too much for Palmer. It's pretty hard to believe they couldn't have gotten him for a 2nd or 3rd round pick - how Cincy got one, and maybe two, first rounders is beyond me.

Charzr said:That's right. Nobody wants to play for the worst franchise in the NFL. Palmer will be good in Oakland, that's all they need... "Good"
And the two draft picks.... you guys kidding me... the way Oakland drafts players they are just trading two "busts" [a la jamarcus russell] for a proven QB.

ythelongface said:Based on your post, it sounds like you may not have understood how the draft picks will work.......The draft picks are a 1st round pick in 2012, and a second round pick in 2013 which could become a 1st rounder if the Raiders make the playoffs. The picks are being given to Cincinnati, not picks that Oakland has already made. Cincinnati, for all their faults does reasonably well in the draft especially the last few years, unlike the Raiders......So ironically, even though most of us here in the Nati hate Palmer, it is in our best interest for him to succeed(at least this year)

Charzr said:Based on your post, it sounds like you didn't understand what I was talking about... I'm speaking from the Raiders Perspective that were the ones with the Picks. What happens if they don't make the trade and draft people like
QB Jamarcus Rusell
TE Ricky Dudley
QB Todd Marinovich
DE Bob Buczkowski
T John Clay
Safety Patrick Bates
Safety Derrick Gibson
QB Eldrige Dickey
Can you really say those guys are better than Palmer?
But let's get it out of the way, what really bothered you about my comment was the "Nobody wants to play for the worst franchise in the NFL" part - I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings :hmmmm:
That one was great!!!
Divebitch said:I knew what you meant chazrzr. If you look at my post, agreed that there were lots more disgruntled there than Palmer. He had either the most integrity, or less to lose, or lower threshhold for BS or all of the above. Didn't want out just because they were bad, it was because of why.
Still you gotta think they hoped the busts would not continue, but face up.
ythelongface said:Nah... you didnt hurt my feelings lol! I know we deserve every jab we get. I did misread your comment though about the draft picks. I see what you mean now, and I apologize. No excuses... I was wrong
billyjustin said:It's all Niners baby, and we are still the only team that matters in the bay. With that being said, atleast it isn't Russell that they got, lol. Raiders still won't make the postseason, since there is a 2nd half, and we al know what the raiders do in the second half
buster999 said:If palmer doesn't have good start he will probably suck the rest of the season after the raider fans boo him for every bad play he makes. Nobody wants to play for the raiders.
