NFL in Europe and Canada

Is NFL going to have teams in Europe and Canada soon?

Anything could happen. I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. I however believe if the AAF takes off That's where out of country teams would be cycled in to

Possibly Toronto. No where else in CAnada i dont think. Very few schools in Van proper play football so you dont have the next generation fans and the generation that cares about football is dieing off rapidly. Sure lots of BC folks go to watch the shithawks play but i think alot of that interest is intwined with the road trip.

I hope so,,,would love a NFL team,,and Toronto could support it easily,unlike Van or Mtl.I think London has a chance also,,,but location/travel might be a problem.

Toronto and Mexico are the 2 likely options. I don't know if it will ever happen though.

Football

I could see a team in Canada but the travel issues for a team in Europe would be a problem based on the current 16 game regular season.

However anything is possible these days.

Not that I have heard. Probably its more in the future than upcoming soon.

I would love a team in Toronto but there are too many factors against it to happen anytime soon:

- Suitable stadium. The dome is terrible to watch football in, BMO is no where big enough and the cost to build would be enormous unless it was used by the Argos, TFC, and possibly even U of Toronto

- CFL - As much as the CFL is considered second tier to the NFL in almost every aspect, one aspect that overrides it is the fact that it is an established league that would require significant concessions on the TV and advertising side to work with a NFL franchise.

- Market - Toronto is a Leafs town first, everything else second. Something the NFL is not used to. And while the NFL does not directly compete against the Leafs, the fact that the NFL season lies almost entirely within the Leafs doesn't make it a slam dunk at first.

- Tailgating - One thing that makes NFL games infamous is the tail gating. Drinking and partying in the parking lots before a game bleeds football. Lots of things you are not allowed to do here sadly. So until those laws change I can't see how fans will create the atmosphere in a NFL stadium to make this work

- Canada - Let's face it, the Raptors do not get the same respect in the US as most teams, so why would the NFL be any different, especially when 1/32 of the TV deal to the US broadcasters would register a 0 on the ratings scale?

I hope it happens but I doubt it will. Europe on the other hand could...

tthey tried a world League 15years ago, but only Teams like Frankfurt Galaxy, Düsseldorf Rhein Fire or Amsterdam Admirals were financially successfull. At the end, they had 5 Teams in Germany, Amsterdam, Glasgow and Barcelona, they called it NFL Europe.
But they were a few good Players there,which made their first experiences in pro Football, like the later Rams SB Champions Kurt Warner and Tom Nütten, or the german Superbowl Champion with the Patriots, Sebastian Vollmer.
Maybe thats the better way for Europe, to install a Kind of Farmteams there….

Canada already has their league. And because of the weather there I don´t think it is going to happen.
Europe they like real Football, as some call "soccer".
NFL is a unique American thing I guess.

Hahaha. Really, the weather? Somehow TO is colder than Detroit or Buffalo etc etc. We have had a pro league in Canada for 100 years. Yellowknife isnt being considered btw.

I don't believe it will happen but there is no doubt Toronto could support a team, it is one of the largest metropolitan areas,even bigger than a lot of american cities. It is a wealthy city which would sell out luxury boxes/suites. Though I just don't know if American owners will ok this move.

They need to focus on what's already their and fix things before being concerned with expansion. Gets worse every year. I get safety and all but damn it's almost flag football at this point. It's entertainment value has gone down steadily for a long time now.

I find it excluded! During the season there were news about moving Oakland to London. Finally, it didn't happen,which would have been a great disadvantage. I think they will only be American teams for many years in NFL. But American Football is becoming more and more popular in Europe.

Taking the experience of other leagues (NHL, NBA), Canada has more chances to get the team there
