It was indeed very weird.
I don't agree with the umpire to give a penalty of a full game, at that point of the match, but he was right about the coaching thing.

To penalize a full game was too excessive. She didn't do nearly enough to force the umpire to influence the outcome of a grand slam championship match. Umpires take twenty times as much from the men players including cursing.

Serena Hellmuth just try to bully herself into a win against a stronger younger better player. What she did is absolutely wrong. That is not how a champion acts. Her coach admited he was coaching her from the stands and if you like it or not in this game it is a violation. I am happy to see the sports media calling her out for taking away a great moment for a young champion.

I love Serena - her personality, demeanour, style, and talent. It's unfortunate she couldn't keep it under control. A slip-up - I guess she is human after all.

Unfortunately, the spotlight was taken away from a first time Grand Slam winner.

I have the opinion that the referees are not so strict with men , also Serena should have been calmer , ignore the referee and try to focus on the game vs this capable young opponent .
Anyway , Serena is and will be no1 woman tennis player and I hope she comes back stronger after this defeat . Also congratulations to Osaka Naomi for the win .

Cammon... I mean Serena from all?? I still remember what she did vs Clijsters after got footfaulted from line judge, it was awfull... Soon we will here racisam acusations from her because Sarapova makes more from sponsors... [emoji14]

I can't believe Serena has been able to get through to the finals quite a few times recently and not be able to finish the deal. It seems like getting all the way to the finals would be the difficult part. Is father time really catching up to her or is she just stumbling because of being in the finals?
