I have noticed that in 888poker tournaments, especially freerolls, many players run out of chips very quickly because they play out of position marginal hands. In my experience, it's better to focus on strong hands and take advantage of other players' mistakes, rather than forcing plays. I also think that managing the stack well in the early stages of the tournament greatly increases the chances of winning prizes.

freerolls are funny. people blast because ... well it's a freeroll. you have to wait a bit for the dust to settle to start playing intelligently

I agree. In freerolls many players bust early by overplaying weak hands, especially out of position. Playing tight, focusing on strong hands, and managing your stack in the early stages gives a big advantage.

As a rule, people do not risk their money in freerolls and play more boldly, in my opinion this is a disadvantage of freerolls.

Unless its a decent paying tournament then a lot of players will just go for it early on, so I agree that playing a more selective style greatly increases your chances of prizes.

Some of the play is crazy in these freerolls, I really enjoy them.

This problem isn't just about freerolls; many players behave the same way at micro-limits. These players don't come to these games for poker; they want excitement and fun.

Yesterday I finished in 34th place in the tournament and lost an all-in with a full house QQQ99 and my opponent had a flush 9 10 J Q K of spades 😑

100% agree. Freerolls are full of people torching chips early with junk, especially out of position. If you just stay patient and play solid, you don’t even have to force anything —and they’ll bust themselves. Stack management early is huge too; having chips later makes the whole tournament way easier. Simple, disciplined poker wins these way more often than people think.

They have nothing to lose , so they play ATC . Why not . All you have to do is to adapt your strategy and play accordingly . Although you lose your time by playing , so it's not that you don't lose anything at all by playing freerolls . And some guys wanna gamble early , build a stack , see if it worths playing this freeroll for 3 or more hours .

For me, playing loose is never something I plan to do. Maybe I would if I had a very big stack, or if I’m tilted and don’t really care anymore. But honestly, I’m sure that playing tight is the best strategy in freeroll tournaments. Loose players usually call all-ins with very bad hands that they should never call with, and that’s something you have to take advantage of. Being aware of how your opponents play, adapting to them, and finding the best strategy is key.
