In the last sit & go (5 players, 2 paid) I played, the 2nd place slept all the way from the beginning to the end of the tournament and won money.

When the 4th place was eliminated, he had 21.2 BB against the sleeping player's 25.2 BB, and I had 103.6 BB.

The 3rd place was eliminated when he was down to 3.32 BB while the sleeping player still had 7 BB left.

How often can you "sleep to the money" in a sit and go?

It happens, but its not common. Which site has 5-man SnGs? Never heard about that format before.

I think it all depends on your opponents.
They can be different. With some, you can take a nap, with others, you won't be able to sleep because you risk oversleeping. Situations vary, as do opponents, and your game should be appropriate for the situation.

If the other players are more aggressive, this can certainly happen as bigger pots, almost guarantees players will bust earlier (unless the chips just keep getting passed round and round).

It won't be often you can "sleep walk" to the money in an SnG.
But.. you should take note that playing super tight early in the SnG is very profitable as you gain from ICM mistakes made by others who bust out with unnecessary gambling when they should be preserving their stacks.
