Us mtt players are too busy playing tournaments 6-12 hours a day to post in our thread lol.

Sometimes I really pity you. Then I remember the pain is self inflicted and I'm just confused.

Debating on if I should move up in buyins a little? Think a couple people told me once to move up so people respect my run good. Hmmm something to ponder over while drinking my coffee.

You're running and playing well, I assume you're well rolled for slightly higher limits so go for it. If you don't mind me asking, what's your bankroll look like?

Also PLO is the second coming of Jesus. I don't really know what's going on and I don't have a HUD so learning to actually concentrate is hard with so many cards but it's sick fun.

lol that is probably a very valid point.
I just think the poor thread could use some help, along with those of you who play those games:p

+1

I will do one here and there to switch it up, but could never imagine playing them solely.

Half a league, half a league,
space.gif
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
space.gif
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
space.gif
Rode the six hundred.
2.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
space.gif
Someone had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
space.gif
Rode the six hundred.
3.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
space.gif
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
space.gif
Rode the six hundred.
4.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
space.gif
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
space.gif
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
space.gif
Not the six hundred.
5.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
space.gif
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
space.gif
Left of six hundred.
6.When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
space.gif
All the world wondered.
Honor the charge they made,
Honor the Light Brigade,
space.gif
Noble six hundred.

If your the one asking Chippy I def dont mind. My biggest problem is that I dont keep money online nearly as much as I should. Being out of work and only making 60% of my weekly salary from Workmans Comp makes the bills a little tight. So when I do bink a tourney or get deep I see a couple hundred bucks and say "Well thats a week's salary" and I take it out and put it towards my bills.

I know its terrible BRM but I see it as putting the money towards a better cause. My family.

My roll is not huge and if I were to go broke I have money that I set aside for poker that I can use. Online currently have almost a grand and in my poker savings I have around 2400.

Omaha was, is, and always will be, my game of choice. I love the game and feel like Iam better than the average player at it.

I took some shots at bigger games last week and a few decent runs but nothing worth mentioning. Maybe my shots were a little too big who knows.

I understand where you're coming from with what you do with your winnings atm. You could probs play around the $5-$10 mark and be really comfortable. I'm not suggesting anything massive, maybe play a few bigger tourneys on sundays. I just see you crush $2 tournaments and think you could defo hand with the bigger boys and perhaps make a bit more money :)

Thanks for the ego boost broskie!!! Ive played much bigger in terms of buyins ie: 10-200 and am really comfortable. My skills get me deep sometime but I lack the skills for the late stages, when the cream of the crop rises to the top if that makes any sense

So I just went and checked my bank online and I see theres a Full tilt deposit thats pending in my account. I go to my email, and see that full tilt sent me a email stating that they never debited my account for a deposit that I made in NOVEMBER of LAST YEAR?

The money was in my account to be taken and it wasnt much. No worries there. Iam sitting here in a wtf kind of mode though. Five months to clear a deposit? Thats not cool. Really come on full tilt. Get your ****ing act together. Five months is utterly ****ing ridiculous.

You're eating your seed corn.

You need money to make money. Keeping the cash in your BR and moving up is an investment, probably the higher return investment you can make right now.

There is a level where this is not true anymore as you end up not good enough to win more by playing higher, but I very much doubt you're there yet.

I think I understand what your saying Belgo about needing money to make money. Can u compound on the quoted statement a little more. No Iam not levelling. Just want to make sure that Iam fully understanding your point.

if you had the same winrate in bb/100 at all levels, moving up in stakes would allow you to see an exponential growth in $ instead of a linear growth if you stay at the same stake. Exponential vs. linear is a pretty big deal.

obviously your winrate in bb/100 goes down as you move up, but as long as your $/100 is increasing, moving up is much more +EV than withdrawing.

Thanks Belgo. I fully understand what you mean. I really cant explain why I do what I do. I find it hard to keep alot on because I feel like my family would benefit more from it rather than playing and potentially losing with it. So i just keep grinding the micros and taking occasional shots. Especially since only recently have I been able to put in a comfortable amount of volume, being out injured from work. Before that I just was comfortable being a recreational player who could bink something here or there.

I think it might be time to re assess my goals poker wise.

Hey thanks Jay. I appreciate that bro.

I understand. Mostly because i'm doing it myself as I'm playing 100nl and cashing out all profits.

The thing is, it's fine to do it, but you need to have a serious decision about the proper level at which you want to stop moving up, because failure to move up to the level where your $/h is the highest is a VERY expensive mistake.

PC, why not just cash out some and keep some to keep the roll building. Do a 50/50 mix, that way you have positive growth on the bankroll and something to pay the bills with.

Yea - it can be painful. Damn near moved me to tears last night - okay I think some really fell lol.

But - I can make a profit at them and it seems to be the only kind of poker I can do that with. So mtt's it is.

Also - when I don't hate them I really love them. :)

Well see thats kinda the thing. I cash out most and keep enough to consistently grind micro's. All my shots at the bigger games have been somewhat lacking in terms of positive results. I think sub consciously I just kinda settled into the fact, that I would onlly be able to beat micros consistently to earn a profit.

Money is not money as long as it's in your poker account. It's only the tool you need to be able to earn money at this game. It only becomes money once you cash it out.

Having this mental disconnect between money in your poker account and money in your pocket is absolutely necessary when you move up in stakes. Even at 100nl it's not uncommon to have a +$1k or -$1k day at the tables. If you consider that real money, it seriously screws up your mind. But really it's not real money as long as it sits in your BR.

100% correct. I defenitely need to start having this mindset. I appreciate the advice and I will absolutely start using it asap. Excellent conversation itt and thanks to the folks who responded.

Off to the bank and then its time to fire up some $100 MTT's ;)

I kid I kid.

Obviously, all of the above assumes you use sound BRM.

Working capital is a tough idea to internalise for a human but completely necessary in any financial activity that comes with risk. Like you said belgo, to think of those 10 buyins as enough money to pay most or all of the bills that month is a serious mind ****. I do believe that PC uses sound BRM though so that's nothing to worry about.

Also, I like PLO.
