As long as I'm comfortable with the table and playing well I'll stay, if the table dynamics change say a couple player's leave a couple new one,s sit in,and I can't get a grip on their game I'll likely leave if I start feeling uncomfortable because if I can't figure them out I'm likely the main course in their fish buffet

Booking winners is the goal

It seems like to me you're a casual player, not a professional player. But even being a casual recreational player it's still a very good idea to have your poker bankroll completely separate from your other finances. That being said let's talk about a winning strategy with bankroll management. Every time you go to the casino you should have however many bullets you were going to play with, and my opinion you should never go above three. So in a 1-3 game that should be $900 in your pocket. Your goal should be to double that. And if you triple or quad up great. But remember once you stock up you need to protect those stacks. It's not that complicated you don't have to be the best player in the world to accomplish this. But being the best player at the table certainly helps...so game selection is a the key to success. If you notice that the table is better than you move, once you get to a table that is 40%vpip people splashing chips everywhere you're in a good spot to make money. all you have to do at this point play extremely tight. Tight and aggressive. And believe me making TV bluffs and hero calls isn't going to get you paid, tilt control and good folds will. Making good lay downs and only playing 20% of the hands or less is going to put you in there. Good luck.

Although I only play online, I never actually play more than 4-6 hours. For me, poker is a hobby, and my main goal is just to play and enjoy the game. In general, I prefer to win not much but steadily, every day.

It's a common topic in general

This can be the same discussion about so many things, the common problem is the mental. If you know your limits, it's easy leave and stop to playing. You have to know when you not playing well and stop right now whatever if you're gaining ou losing. Always will be another day.

I think that 4-6 hours is much time. If only do that.

I think that most people who play poker or gamble knows exactly when to leave. However, knowing when to leave is not the hard part, the hard part is putting the thought into action.

When you're well ahead or when you've run out of money, preferably the former.

I guess I just leave when I'm uncomfortable with the game or I don't think I'm playing very well.

It can definitely be tough to walk away from a game that I think I should be a favorite in, but if I get stuck three or four buy-ins then I just figure it's not my night. If it is more of a confidence issue, then I like what others have said about booking a win or two. If you double up, play tight for a round or two and rack up.

You need to understand why you're playing. If it's about money, set limits and walk when you reach them. If it's entertainment, still set money loss limits but understand what you are looking for at the table. Stay as long as the table is good, you have chips and you are playing well.

So I have been playing 1/3 regularly at a local casino and been having a huge problem. When to leave. I don’t hear much from people about this being a problem as much as it is for me. It’s just about how the cards are running for me and noticing when the deck turns bad for me. It seams that if I figure this out I will definitely do better with wins and losses. I mean there are going to be losing sessions and I can’t do anything about that but two sessions ago I was up a bit over $500 before even playing for an hour and the deck turned on me and not too much later I was in the negative and ended up cashing out up $35. Next session just off to a rough start and coughed up $600. Really can’t do anything about sitting down and the first hand I see is pocket aces after the utg player blind raises to $20. There was a caller after and then I re raised to $80 and got the utg player all in after he hit top pair on the flop. He rivered his second pair. A couple sessions before that my pocket aces got cracked by kings. I know I am drifting off the subject but any thoughts would be appreciated. I just felt that that $500 win would have really helped me out and I can also look back over this year and find that if I left at the right time on a lot of sessions I would be in the positive instead of negatives easily. Thanks

There really is no "right" time to leave a game unless you are drunk, tired, distracted, ect. The only good time to get out of a game is if you are not in a game that you feel like you can win. I Know we all have egos, but, if you are sitting at a table with a bunch of pros, then change tables to sit with a bunch of rec players. That is what is really important. As long as you are in a profitable game, you should play as long as you are playing solid poker and making good poker decisions.

It's definitely time to go when there is no more money to be won.

I think we have to leave when our concentration is reduced and when we are tired

I never leave, because I always play rested and create comfortable playing conditions for myself, no one bothers me, no one walks around me and does not distract from the game, poker loves comfort.

Welcome to our community.
This question is individual and everyone decides for himself how much time to spend on the game. I play 4-6 hours a day because I can easily combine poker with my main job. :)
Please pay attention to our free course, which will help you significantly improve your skills and get good results faster.

there are days when we know we're going to get the worst of it, so when you realize it's a day of "bad luck", leave the game

This has been my problem as long as I have played real money. I do not know. When I lose a certain amount, and then that would mean I have to leave, I get the feeling that I failed. Then I stay a bit longer, but my mindset is not good anymore, since I did not listen to myself to leave, and a bit later tilt follows. And eventually bankruptcy........I for sure could use some help with this item.

Set a realistic target..

Realistically, you should know going into any game, it's set up for you to lose. If there are ten players at the table, if you lose, it makes sense, there are nine enemies.
Stick to your sensible rule: at X event, I will stop. X can be a set amount of money won/lost, or games won/lost. if your amount is set, yet reasonable, you should be okay.
Poker is like the stock market. Don't "chase your losses", betting more, taking bigger chances, because you feel you are "due" for a win.

You shouldn't play when you feel uncomfortable. Sometimes the cards are dealt so badly that you don't want to play. And when the top couple comes, they will surely move you. As soon as you notice this, you should immediately leave.
