Now that we've gone through the fundamentals of playing roulette, let's now look at some of the ways people bet roulette - that is, what do they bet; how much do they bet, and what systems are out there that gamblers have created to try and get an edge up on the house!

đź’Ą Strategy for Playing Roulette​

Roulette is such a simple game to play that it can attract players of any bankroll to the table, and beginners pick the game up quickly. But some things that you'll pick up fast if you play at a roulette table enough include:
  • Betting 2% of your bankroll or less - You don't want to walk up to the table, put all of your money on black, and then see it scooped away in one motion because Red 1 hit. Pace yourself, and don't bet aggressively especially at first
  • Decide what you want to bet on - Do you want to put your bets on your lucky number, or try and play 50-50 and bet all on black? Or are you going to try and cover most of the board to minimize your risk as much as possible?
  • Are you going to try and increase your bets to make a profit when you hit and use a system, or keep your bets the same and see what happens at the end?
Mayn gamblers have developed systems on how to bet on roulette that they hope reduces their risk of losing - many of which we'll review next - but note that no system is full-proof and eliminates the losses you could encounter. Let's examine those systems next!

đź’Ą Popular Betting Systems​

While you are playing against the house - which has a significant edge over you - gamblers have developed betting patterns over the years to attempt to reduce the house edge, and be profitable every time they hit the roulette tables. Some are quite simple; others are very complex and we'll break down some of the more well known ones now:
  • Non-Progressive
    Simply put, you bet the exact same amount on every spin, regardless of the outcome of the previous spin.
    Pro: Easy to manage your bankroll.
    Con: If you get down, it's impossible to recoup.
  • $150 Bet
    You bet $50 - or 1/3 of your budget per spin - on the first twelve; $50 or 1/3 of your budget on the 2nd twelve numbers, and then $5 or 3.33% of your budget on 10 of the remaining 13 numbers, including 0
    Pro: Most spins you'll come out even or slightly ahead
    Con: When one of the numbers you don't cover hits, your loss is essentally insurmountable.
  • Martingale
    With every loss, you double your initial bet, playing primarily even money bets, until you win, at which point you revert back to your initial bet.
    Pro: With a big enough bankroll you should be able to overcome statistical anomalies and be close to break even.
    Con: Those statistical anomalies can absolutely destroy your bankroll.
  • Grand Martingale
    The same as the Martingale except instead of doubling your initial bet with every loss, you double and add your initial bet until you win.
    Pro: Every win adds profit to your bankroll.
    Con: The bet sizes grow even faster and a statistical anomaly will ruin your bankroll much quicker.
  • D'Alembert
    If you lose the last spin, you increase your bet by $1. If you win your last bet you decrease your bet by $1
    Pro: Multiple wins will add to your bottom line more quickly, and in theory should even out to your initial bet size.
    Con: Losses cannot be recovered as quickly, and multiple losses in a row will be tough to overcome.
  • Andrucci
    Make 30 to 40 random bets, noting which numbers hit multiple times. Then, bet on the numbers that are "hot". Tip: casinos often show you the last 20 numbers or so, making this easier to track.
    Pro: If the wheel continues on this pace, you rack up wins more quickly.
    Con: Numbers have the same probability of hitting, and it's statistically harder to continue to hit those numbers, making your losses potentially higher.
  • Fionacci
    With every win you go down two places on the Fibonacci sequence (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34) and losses go up one space. You need to know the Fibonacci sequence to begin to adapt and implement this.
    Pro: Bet sizes don't grow as quickly as other methods--providing a way to win back losses.
    Con: Bankrolls could be stretched with multiple losses in a row at the table.
  • James Bond
    A very specific method where you take an amount to bet every time, say $100, and bet 70% on the 19-36 box; 25% on the 13 to 18 box, and 10% on the 0.
    Pro: The majority of the table is covered using bet amounts that will make money.
    Con: You lose a considerable amount if the wheel hits between 1 and 12, making it difficult to recover.

🎯 Summary

This is one of the most popular casinos games today, simply because of how easy it is for a beginner to walk up to a table, pick a number, and potentially win. Like most casino games though, the number of variations out there - game variations, betting limits and restrictions, etc, make choosing your game critical, along with how you choose to make your wagers. Be mindful of your gambling habits, and the size of your bankroll for your next roulette session!

I think thats a good strategy to lose less then you would normally do but still gonna be a losing strategy long term

I like the "Martingale" strategy; I'm trying to build a decent bankroll and use this strategy to earn around $20 a day.

Honestly, I only played roulette a few times in my whole life. And I only bet on Red/Black. I would bet on Red 10 times in a row, then do the same with Black. I think I'm up about $50 overall.

Do you know which one is the one with the least risk? Im aware u will probably end up broke in the long run using any of them but which one gives u the most time to play in general?

Yes - they all have risk but any strategy that minimizes your future bets and is the longest to getting profitable is your better bet. The strategies that prioritize being profitable on any win can make your bet size enormous if you end up on a bad run and risk your bankroll going poof very quickly

My method has proven 100% successful at wiping out my bankroll every time.

Sorry it is a closely guarded secret.

Using Martingale gives you a 50% chance of winning by doubling your bet, offsetting your previous loss. While this may seem simple to implement, it's also risky, as there's no guarantee your winning streak will end before you deplete your bankroll.

Martingale is the dumbest IMHO.
You end up only winning the initial bet.
Say the intitial bet was 1$, if you lose 10x you lost 511$, and are at a 512$ bet to win back your original 1$.
Big risk for little reward.
It will always win theoretically with unlimited bankroll and no betting limit.
