Hello, everyone is from Kherson, Ukraine. How would you imagine earning money from poker if it was your main source of income? What would you need to do that? What do you think about this? I would appreciate your answers.

Cool. As for me, I do it like this: I watch a stream on an old smartphone and play a tournament on another one. With the electricity situation, as you know, things are rough right now. I don’t have the means yet to set up more autonomous power.

To do this, you need to have a solid financial foundation. In order for poker to become your profession, an activity that will bring you your main income, you need to have a decent financial foundation so that you can pay all your necessary bills for several years without any problems. Or you need to have a good wife who will pay all the bills and provide you with everything you need. If you don't have money, find a wife.

Making poker your main source of income is possible, but it’s definitely not easy or quick. I think the most important things are discipline, bankroll management, and treating poker like a real job, not gambling. That means studying regularly, tracking results, choosing the right games, and being mentally prepared for long downswings.

You also need a financial buffer, because income from poker is not stable month to month. For most people, it makes sense to start with poker as a side income and only think about going full-time after proving consistent results over a long period. Poker life can be rewarding, but it requires patience, hard work, and strong self-control.

Making money from poker is like turning silver into gold for me. There is no fixed salary in poker, so making a living from it can be challenging.I stumbled upon a broadcast of the European Poker Tour. The commentators kept saying things like, "The player made a technical error," "You can't play like that," and other phrases that baffled me: "This is poker, what the hell kind of technique could there possibly be?" But after understanding what I'd heard and seen, I realized there were people out there who knew something I didn't yet, and that this knowledge allowed them to make money.

Mainly understanding that it’s not about playing cards — it’s mathematical analysis (EV+) + psychology + discipline. It requires a business mindset. Being able to withstand variance. Not tilting. Spending 30–50% of your time studying. Reviewing hands.

Well, poker is one of my sources of income. Thanks to poker, I can consistently pay my utility bills. I practically don't invest in poker, but sometimes I manage to win a ticket (in satellites and challenges) to a tournament with a high money guarantee. :)

If poker were my main source of income, the first thing I would need is a very healthy bankroll, one that allows me to play tournaments without putting myself under constant financial pressure. I would also consider trying to join a streamer or affiliate program on a platform like GGPoker, where good rakeback can really help smooth out bad downswings. To make poker a living, I believe you need to dedicate many hours to study, stay fully focused, and treat it like a real job. At the moment, I don’t see that lifestyle as realistic for myself, although one deep run in a big tournament can always change your perspective. For me, poker is currently more about enjoying the game and improving my skills. Regarding the image, it’s true that many successful online players use two or three monitors, but I don’t think that’s necessary at the beginning. Even one or two affordable monitors can be more than enough if you’re just starting out.

If it's a 888 poker game, it brings a lot of positive emotions.

If poker were my main income, I’d treat it like a business, not gambling.

First, I’d make sure I’m a proven long-term winning player with a solid sample size. Then I’d follow strict bankroll management (50–100 buy-ins for cash, 100+ for tournaments) and keep separate savings for living expenses.

I’d also set a schedule for volume and study, work on my mental game, and focus on good game selection.

It’s definitely possible, but it’s stressful and swingy — so you need discipline, stability, and ideally a backup plan.

Poker is my hobby, I haven't won much, I think I have a lot left to learn, my learning has been from my own experience, I haven't studied to play, the best that can be said, perhaps, I will do it from now on.

I think it's difficult to make money playing poker, but overall it's possible. I think all you need is free time to play and study. I think you need to devote at least 6-8 hours a day to playing, and at least another 2 hours to analysis and learning. If that's acceptable to you, if you can afford to spend that much time playing, at least 5-6 days a week, then you have the prospect of becoming a professional player.
