Is TT a good hand for going all-in pre-flop?

I have doubts when taking TT. Sometimes it seems strong, but I've had a lot of calls from AK and QQ. What's the right line?

I think TT is one of those “looks strong but plays tricky” hands.
Personally, if I’m short (under 10BB), I don’t think twice — I just shove.
Between 15–25BB, I usually 3-bet shove only vs late-position opens.
With deeper stacks, I prefer to flat or make a small 3-bet instead of going all-in.


It’s basically a flip against AK and crushed by QQ+, so I try not to gamble too early unless I have a good read.
TT is strong, but not invincible.

It depends as most time in Poker. Depends on game type, tournament, or cash game, tournament stage, stack size and so on.

It really makes no sense to frame the question like this. Each situation has an optimal range for going all-in, and it can be as wide as jamming or calling with any two cards, or as narrow as folding even AA. The latter would be near the bubble of a satellite or DoN format, when you have enough chips to fold your way to a cash.

So rather than asking about a specific hand like TT, you should focus on learning, what your entire range should be in different situations. And its very important to remember, that just because you lost a hand, does not mean, the play was wrong. Poker is a game of odds, and making the optimal play does not mean, you always win the hand. It all depends on the stack size, but if it’s a Spin & Go with only 3–4 players at the table, then yeah — I usually go all-in with that kind of hand.

It really depends on the situation. With TT, I usually avoid going all-in pre-flop unless I’m short-stacked or facing aggressive opponents with wider ranges. Against deep stacks, I prefer to see the flop and evaluate, since overcards like Q, K, or A can easily change the hand’s strength.

You can find this out by doing statistics, after thousands of hands you will have a result. Never forget that poker is a game of chance!
