Do you judge players by their avatars?

I’ll admit that I do get an impression based on someone’s avatar. But I use their actual playing to let me know how they will play.

A while back there was an obnoxious member that went by the name of Hot_Estelle or something like that. Her avatar was a smokin' hot brunette in a halter top and all the dudes were climbing over each other to reply to her posts. I think she turned out to be a 50 year old fat guy.

No. Only how they play matters. I do hope they are stupid players out there that do thou as I select my avatars to target such people and make them believe I'm a much worse player than I am. Take my avatar for these forums is a perfect example(the Dude). Good funny movie about a slack ass, pot smoking screw up of a detective(PI).

Avatars are mostly the players favorite movie/tv actor/famous person, pics or images of things they like and no indiction of how they may or may not play poker. Some of the worst players I've ever played against have had avatars that would make you believe other wise and that they were good players yet sit with them 20 mins and you can see clearly they're clowns with no idea what they're doing.

Cheers!!!

By a tiny amount, this isn't some deep read either way but if player has bothered to change their avatar I know they are more likely to be a regular player - doesn't mean they are good reg. but more likely to not be clueless.

No, if the room allows it, I'll disable the avatars so they don't interfere with the game.

Honestly, yeah, avatars do mess with my first impression sometimes. If someone’s rocking a funny or random avatar, I tend to think they’re more recreational until proven otherwise, but I’ve learned the hard way that some of those “goofy” avatars belong to crushers who just don’t care about appearances. 😅

In the end, I think avatars can say something about a player’s vibe or mindset, but not necessarily their skill level.

The truth is that no, I don't care about my avatars, whether a woman or a man I'm going to bet on them in the way that seems right to me, there are only a few that make me laugh, but that's not why I think I can underestimate them

It's hard not to be judgmental...my own avatar seems silly...maybe I do not get taken seriously...sometimes I imagine the age of the player based on the avatar or user name. Eventually, their play will reveal if they are decent players.

Absolutely. A goofy avatar usually means a loose player.

Avatars don’t lie, the crazier the picture, the tougher the player. The real sharks hide behind the goofiest smiles :)

A player's avatar score varies by game. In some games, it's an average of all stats, while in others, it's a composite of their playstyle, position, age, and other game metrics. When evaluating a player, it's best to focus on their in-game performance, not just their appearance.

Hi!! A funny question. Indeed, it's a bit absurd to directly link an avatar to how a person plays; people can create whatever they want. However, there is still some tendency in behavior. I mostly notice avatars only during downswing, when you're overwhelmed by junk – the avatar becomes a trigger, and immediately a marker appears.
