Haha absolutely 😄 If someone has a lion or skull avatar I already know they’re going all in with 7 2 offsuit. And if it’s a cute cat that’s usually the real shark at the table 🦈🐱

I don't take it into consideration, as it doesn't affect me at all.

I don't take that into consideration; even in ACR, I find the avatars more of a joke.

Yes, I judge him, but that doesn't mean it tells me anything about his game. There are some that suggest that the person is not at home or clearly show a lack of respect, but the jungle is big and there is place for many creatures in it...leave them in their habitat 😃

ofc, nicknames and country flags are also very very important

if you see some brazilian guy with panther or black lambo on profile pic, and UK flag with flowers or pony, you'll get two completely different vibes

No. Only how they play matters. I do hope they are stupid players out there that do thou as I select my avatars to target such people and make them believe I'm a much worse player than I am. Take my avatar for these forums is a perfect example(the Dude). Good funny movie about a slack ass, pot smoking screw up of a detective(PI).

Avatars are mostly the players favorite movie/tv actor/famous person, pics or images of things they like and no indiction of how they may or may not play poker. Some of the worst players I've ever played against have had avatars that would make you believe other wise and that they were good players yet sit with them 20 mins and you can see clearly they're clowns with no idea what they're doing.

Cheers!!!
I agree that the avatar does not define the player but the hands he plays with and that he is not a little arrogant when he falls and is caught in his own game (bluff or being taken to pay until a river).

As long as it's not offensive content, everyone is free to post whatever avatar they want. It's a matter of taste, who likes what, it's also a way of expressing themselves.

It plays a small part as does the name they go by, but their playing is more important.

I don't take winning or losing at the poker table personally, it's just that someone wins or loses to me. That's why I never judge them by their avatar.

It’s very difficult to do so actually since most players keep common in-built avatars!

No, I don't even notice my opponents avatars, unless it's something very different.

I dont pay much attention to avatars, if its just some, that people choose from a list provided by the poker site. But on pokerstars people can also choose to show a photo, and that can give a bit more information.
  • If someone show a picture of their baby, they are likely spending more time and energy being a proud parent than studying poker.
  • If someone show a picture of a hot girl, they are likely a male grinder, who want to have something nice to look at during those long hours.
  • If someone show a picture of a fast car, they are likely a loose and aggressive player, who like to bluff a lot.
Its not the most important or reliable information, but it does add a little bit :)

"Do you judge players by their avatars?"

When playing on-line, you need to utilize every source of information. On sites where the players can upload their avatars, what they upload can tell you something about them. Avatars and nicks such as "Prvt_Pilot" and a piccie of a Cessna, or a nick like BambiBuster with an avatar of a deer with a reticle om its chest, or sports team logos all tell me this player is likely to be a recreational player who's interest is that of a hobby. If you see nicks like "Fill Ivy" or a reference or avatar that shows they know something about Poker could mean a player who takes his game more seriously than a recreational player. For a game with very little information, you take everything they offer. Of course, you also need to pay attention at the tables regardless of whether you're in a hand or not. Especially when you're on the sidelines as that's the best time for observation, and one area where a lot of fish make their biggest mistake. When sitting out, out come the electronic toys or they're surfing some other site. By not being observant, every time they're in a hand it's effectively against unknown opponents. You don't judge solely by their avatars, and you will occasionally see someone who's being deceptive about the image they're projecting, but it is definitely one piece of the puzzle.

avatars (and screen names as well ) can provide another bit of information , though usually of limited use .
