Definitely take notes!
Even if you have a great memory, after a few sessions those reads start blending together. Plus, players evolve their games, so old mental notes might be outdated anyway.
I try to jot down notes immediately after seeing something significant. If I wait until the session ends, I've usually forgotten half the important stuff.
What kind of notes do you take?

I always take notes on my opponents at the table. It's the best way to understand their playing style and predict their next moves.

I want to take notes, so it's hard to sit at the table so often

I always mark players because in the long run it can be very helpful in making decisions against that same player who has already shown us some tendencies in their game. Except on websites that don't allow us to do this, like WPT, not even by rating, color, etc., at least I can't do it on mobile. On 888, the mobile marking is more limited than on PC, allowing you to write down a play or information about the type of play

Yes, I usually make notes about my opponents and use color marking.

As of recently I start to observe behind the players. Read book about poker and came to this. For now I'm only watching the neighboring players

I don't really take notes, but I pay attention to what type of hands they play, if they play GTO poker or not. If they go all in with AK or poket pairs. Even if I'm not in the hand I follow the game- do they play aggressively when they have a big hand or do they try to trap with a monster hand? Sometimes it's more interesting to watch how the others play- especially when I don't have any playable hands.

I take notes, but rarely, you need to understand that notes are effective if you often cross paths with the player, but it's very nice when the notes work

I would always prefer to take notes even when not playing the hand...see the handhistory how they played.. Anything not usual I would make a note of the person only if the Poker App allows to take notes...

It's (almost) impossible for someone to take "mental notes" of everybody you see at the tables. So I always try take notes about other players; I try to write about their gaming tendencies and about their strange played hands (if they have it).
