My work doesn't leave me time to play. Sometimes I come home very tired and unmotivated, and what I end up doing is wasting what little time I play. It's not recommended to play like that, is it?

Can you wake up earlier to play a bit before work? Like some cash games or short sit and go?

Right now I'm dedicating myself full-time to poker. For someone with a regular job, it must be really difficult to balance that with poker, but with good planning, anything is possible.

I know that, I also often come home and am completely tired from work. When I'm too tired, I often don't play good poker either. Sometimes I only play a few spins, since they don't take that long.

Well, you do need to pay the bills in order to be able to afford food and a roof over your head. Try to play poker in your free time, like the week end or evenings, but after you've rested. Playing while you're tired or have low energy might result in not playing very good quality poker that might incur financial losses.

I think the key is to design a realistic weekly routine, choose the most compatible format, and set healthy expectations for your situation—where poker doesn’t compete with your job, but fits around it.

If its only sometimes, then try to be more self aware and dont start playing, if you are to tired. This could also involve days, where you did not sleep well, or maybe you are hung over. If its more general, then dont play after work. There are still weekends, and as someone suggested, maybe its also possible to play for an hour or two before work instead of doing it in the evening after work.

This is going to be little strange - can you play poker at work? 😁😇

Ont. (nice adult answer) - play when you have free time, at weekend's few hours... 🙂

You'd better find a way to balance the two, because it's really tiring. Start planning a tournament schedule.

It is difficult to combine poker and work. If you play when you are tired, you significantly reduce your chances of achieving good results. Therefore, I would recommend that you play on days when you are not working, for example, on weekends. On weekdays, you can spend 20 minutes studying the game, reading books about poker or analysing your own game from the weekend using screenshots you took beforehand.

You don't need to play when you can't show your best game.

You answer your own question. If you are tired, don't play. If you are tired, the best solution for you is to go and rest. Playing when you are tired is a waste of money and health.

Sometimes I've tried, and in fact I've spent some months dedicating my time solely to it, but I live in Venezuela and sometimes the situation gets very complicated, and I feel like I'm not progressing, you know, sometimes just earning enough for the essentials and not enough to keep leveling up.

If poker is serious for you, then listen to my advice, mate. After work, just go to bed and rest. If poker is serious for you, then you have to treat the game properly.

It's a very common problem to feel too tired to play games after work due to mental exhaustion and stress, leading to gaming fatigue, but the solution involves rest, changing activities and choosing less stressful games, as well as addressing underlying stress and sleep issues to bring back the joy of the hobby.

No, it’s generally not recommended. Playing tired or unmotivated usually leads to poor decisions and wasted buy-ins. If you only have limited time, it’s better to play fewer sessions when you’re focused, or switch to formats that require less concentration.

Never play when you are tired! A freeroll with a small prize pool maybe, but never risk your hard earned cash if you have trouble keeping your eyes open.

May I ask how many hours you work per day and what exactly you do? It might be that the job itself is the problem. Sometimes life is simply unfair and you don’t really have a choice. But luckily, there’s the internet.
