I am suggesting that the poker community should consider supporting Donald Trump for president. He is the only candidate who has come out in favor of legalizing online gambling.

And he wouldn't be beholden to Sheldon Adelson.
Trump hasn't come out in opposition to Adelson's ban bills or an support of specific pro-poker legislation. He made statements a couple of years ago that he found the business opportunity compelling, but he'll have to be clear for an endorsement IMO.
Also, Rand Paul is clearly in opposition to RAWA.
I regularly list the opponents to poker who are in the GOP race, like Huckabee, Rubio, Graham. Pataki, Jindal, and (now gone) Perry. Fortunately, they are sinking fast.
I do encourage everyone to give a lot of weight to where candidates are on poker. I know I don't want a president who doesn't believe we can be trusted with the liberty to play poker.
