Not everyone will live to see the next Olympiad. There was no need to anger the Olympic gods - it was clearly not a virgin that lit a fire.

Right decision because of this pandemic and because the athletes are not training and for sure the Olympics not played at high level

Good call

I don't think they had another choice but to postpone the games when some country's already stated they would not participate and besides who would want to put themselves in an environment with masses of people from all over the world when we know how this virus can & does spread?

Good luck to all!

Definitely the right decision that needed to be made, although it will definitely be a strain on the schedule and training cycle for those athletes expecting to compete at the highest level in a few months but instead have to push it off for another year. I saw an interview featuring Michael Phelps recently asking him about how the postponing of Olympics would impact the athletes. He said for swimmers, by this point of the year a couple months out, they've done all the training they can do and it's more of a cool down period before the games. Now their cycle's all thrown off and to put their body through that training regiment again is very difficult, even for the greatest athletes in the world. Not to mention the personal sacrifices of money, time, being away from friends and family, etc.

If they couldn't do otherwise ... If it was a necessity to postpone this major event from now , then it's ok , I'll wait till next year .

That needed to happen there was no other choice.

Its about showcasing elite competition not water down versions.

I agree with everyone here, no choice but to postpone it. Hopefully things get better and no worse with the corona situation.

So they have never been delayed before however, the 1916 Summer Olympics were cancelled due to the onset of WWI; and additionally both Summer Olympics of 1940 and 1944 were cancelled due to WWII.

The Olympics are very beautiful, I like to watch them around 2004 and I liked them the most when Usain Bolt started to dominate even if I play with the USA team. It is a good thing that he moved to 2021 for players to have one more year to train.

If they put if off too long, will they need to have new Trials?
