What kind of America do you mean? North or South? If you're talking about the US, that will never happen.

Everyone has a chance to win. But I think that America will not be able to win soon. They are more rugby-lovers

On the Oddsshark betting site, the three most-rated teams in America are: Brazil in first place tied with the european team, the selection of Argentina in fifth place and in ninth place appears the selection of Uruguay.

USA need to put their mind on the most popular sport in the World. They have a lot of money, people from all over the World living there. They should at least qualify and pass to second round. But not this time. Honduras, Peru and even Iceland are in the World Cup this time.
USA and even Canada has the potential to participate on the World Cup. They just need to organize their national teams, local leagues and put their effort on it.

Honduras, Panamá, Jamaica, El Salvador, Costa Rica, many small Countries had been in the World Cup.Why not Canada ? This year for the first time Iceland is in. They are a small Island with less than 500,000 of population and the weather is as cold as you can get. If Canada put their very well organization and effort on it they can do it ! I guess they are not interest that´s why they never made it.

have you ever heard about a canadian playing a big league in Europe like the EPL, La Liga, Serie A?

it's not about how big is your country, it's about having a soccer/football culture.

Have you ever heard about Jamaica, El Salvador, Costa Rica or Honduras playing on Major leagues ?? Iceland is in Europe ok, but it is their first time ever on the World Cup.
Canada now has 2 teams on the Major League Soccer with USA. It is on already, all they need to do is put more teams, effort and their minds on it.
Canada does not have a Soccer culture, ok. Agree. But that can change. Their Woman national team does well on International competitions.
Things change Mate, change... Nothing is forever.
Who will guess this year Sweden and Iceland are on the World Cup and traditional teams like Italy and Netherlands are out !
Maybe a new Champion this time, will be good for the Sport as well.

Doesn't seem implausible to me, that the U.S. may eventually field a great World Cup team. U.S. is a big country, and many kids play soccer/football as their primary sport. The U.S. women already have won a it several times, men might follow someday.

America will never win

They don't ever have enough talent and the management for US soccer is always garbage.... they are a lost cause until the system they use for players and coaches is changed

What, the USA winning the Women's World cup three times isn't enough for you? That doesn't count?

Also this. For whatever reason, we just don't care about the sport as much as others here, so it's not a big deal to most people in N. America. Our kids play in soccer leagues when they're in school, but that's about it.

This is absolutely correct. In the USA our best male athletes play basketball and american football for lots and lots of money. Baseball has less incredible athletes but takes some as well. We will continue to get better at mens soccer, but until you can make tons of money playing soccer while still living in the USA...we will never dominate.

Now for womens soccer we will always be one of the best. I feel that the USA women dominate a lot of team sports world wide because there aren't many pro women's leagues save the WNBA.

I was going to mention the three world cups that the US women's teams have won but JuiceeQ stole my thunder. (thanks a lot)

Soccer needs to get more exposure before our better athletes start getting into soccer. We, as Americans don't even call it the same thing, and I still don't understand how the time works with adding time to the end of the game.

But I found it extremely exciting to watch 4 years ago and wish we were in the Men's World Cup this year.

The US is a little behind the curve on when it comes to soccer. Until it becomes more mainstream in the US, better better compensation and endorsement deals for players, I don’t think we stand a chance on the world level.

Let's give the US women their proper respect. Over the last 7 World Cups, they have come in 3rd three times, runner up once, and Champs three times.

That is pretty strong.

No, because the soccer tradition is not good enough in America. Sport parents would rather raise up their children in other sports, that is the main problem. Imagine the best sport athletes in America playing in soccer? America would definitely be able to compete then, but soccer is simply not as lucrative or famous.
